Mgr Comm Strategy
The Manager, Commercial Strategy is responsible for leading the omnichannel strategy and execution within the Bayer Consumer Health Vitamin & Nutritionals portfolio. This role focuses on segmenting the portfolio and customer base to enhance brand strategy and ensure alignment with retailer needs. The Manager will maximize sales performance through excellent execution across assortment, pricing, promotion, and shelving, spanning both base business and innovation. This position will help develop and execute the internal annual business plan for assigned brands and customers, deliver excellent execution across sales planning and strategy, base business/new item execution, ensuring effective trade execution to achieve quarterly and annual sales volume targets while fostering long-term strategic partnerships. This role also serves as a liaison between all internal cross-functional partners, with keen emphasis on their sales counterparts, serving as an advocate of the consumer and retailer to enhance understanding and potential application with our retailer partners.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Manager, Commercial Strategy , are to:
+ Omnichannel Strategy Development: Lead the creation and implementation of an integrated omnichannel strategy that aligns with brand objectives and addresses the unique needs of retailers and consumers.
+ Sales Controllables Management: Optimize the four sales controllables—assortment, pricing, promotion, and shelving—while incorporating innovative solutions to enhance market competitiveness.
+ Business Planning and Execution: Develop and execute the annual business plan for assigned brands and key customers, focusing on achieving sales volume targets through effective trade execution and strategic partnerships.
+ Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitate business-planning sessions with cross-functional teams (customer marketing, field sales, marketing, finance, sales operations, and e-commerce) to ensure alignment and successful execution of key initiatives.
+ Sales Presentations: Lead and deliver impactful selling presentations to various levels within the retailer organization, fostering relationships that drive customer engagement and collaboration.
+ Forecasting and Trade Budget Management: Represent commercial strategy during monthly customer forecast calls and summarize strategic impact of forecast changes. Monitor trade budget / customer spend forecast, determine whether over/under forecast, and implications to the overall category trade forecast.
+ Retail Execution and Optimization: Audit and evaluate retail execution of our brands and major competitors, to identify operational challenges and opportunities. Provide direction to third-party vendors to enhance retail execution and category management.
+ Data Analysis and Strategy Creation: Integrate and analyze multiple data sources to develop selling strategies and programs that create win-win outcomes for both Bayer and retailers, for both the base business and new item innovation.
+ Shopper Marketing Collaboration: Partner with the customer marketing team to design customer-specific shopper marketing and promotional programs that amplify in-store & online execution and align with brand strategies and improve distribution, merchandising, pricing, and shelving.
+ New Item Development: Create sales plans and strategies for new items to achieve headquarters and retail objectives, ensuring timely data analysis for effective sell-in and execution.
+ Market Awareness: Maintain ongoing awareness of retail and competitive activity through regular contact and visits to major markets, ensuring alignment with market trends.
+ Customer Advocacy: Represent the “voice of the customer” within Bayer, driving profitable results for both parties and increasing awareness and action of critical customer issues.

Required Qualifications:
+ Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field;
+ Leadership Skills: Results-driven with the ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment, building strong relationships and demonstrating organizational agility. Proven track record of delivering results against plans.
+ Financial Acumen: Strong financial management skills to assess promotion effectiveness and continuously improve ROI.
+ Industry Expertise: In-depth knowledge of individual retailers and the overall marketplace, with experience in sales strategy or operations preferred.
+ Communication Skills: Excellent communication abilities, capable of delivering clear presentations and actionable insights. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
+ Negotiation Skills: Proven experience in customer negotiations, developing win-win solutions to complex situations.
+ Technical Skills: Strong analytical capabilities across various data sources and platforms; advanced proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; with 8+ years of progressive sales experience in the consumer packaged goods industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $118934.14 - 178401.20. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
