Maintenance Technician (Muscatine, Iowa)

As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our industrial equipment. You will work collaboratively with maintenance and production teams to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment while adhering to safety and operational standards. This position offers opportunities for skill development, certifications, and career growth within the maintenance reliability field.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Maintenance Technician, are to:

+ Perform troubleshooting and repairs of industrial equipment;

+ Read and understand engineering drawings, including P&IDs/EFDs, single-line drawings, schematics, and Standard Operating Procedures, while maintaining accurate equipment repair/modification documentation;

+ Assist in determining root causes of failure and collaborate with engineering to develop reliability resolutions;

+ Learn the specific details of the plant’s equipment and work with maintenance and production teams to complete work safely and efficiently;

+ Increase skill levels and obtain certifications associated with the position and the maintenance reliability field as required;

+ Complete the Maintenance Training Program to ensure familiarity with the design, operation, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial systems;

+ Mentor maintenance trainees by providing developmental coaching and setting personal development goals;

+ Perform 5S, housekeeping activities, and other duties as assigned to ensure a safe working environment.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

+ High school diploma or equivalent (GED);

+ Basic knowledge of industrial maintenance and/or previous experience in maintenance;

+ Strong focus on safety, teamwork, and personal flexibility;

+ Ability to work without direct supervision in a diverse team environment;

+ Strong verbal communication skills with basic computer skills;

+ Understanding of maintenance disciplines;

+ Ability to read and understand engineering flow diagrams.

+ Overtime and Callout hours including evening and weekend work required as needed to support business needs.

This position is in a maintenance shop with frequent work both outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet and dry conditions. The requirements for this position involve the willingness to work in a variety of areas (shop, office, outside, in man lifts, scissors lifts, etc.) including frequent walking and standing. Position requires willingness to climb with the ability to perform elevated work utilizing portable ladders and fall protection equipment within the current ANSI duty ratings. Position involves repetitive motion and/or repetitive lifting up to 50 lbs. Use of a Full-Face Respirator / Self Contained Breathing Apparatus, and Level-A Suit required for work with HHMs. Standard hours will be 6:00am to 2:30pm. Overtime hours including evening and weekend work required as needed to support the business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Three to five years of mechanical maintenance experience;

+ Degree or certifications in a mechanical-related field;

+ Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, steam, refrigeration, lubrication, rigging, and other related systems, along with performing preventative maintenance (PM) tasks and following all mandated procedures/regulations related to those systems;

+ Manufacturing experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.

Employees can expect to be paid an hourly rate between $36.65 - $42.59. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
