    Job Description Summary

    Mechanical Technician

     

    This role is responsible for all facets of basic/intermediate operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of facility mechanical systems and equipment. This includes but is not limited to conducting and/or supporting a variety of preventative maintenance activities associated with mechanical equipment and systems that reside within a critical environment. The successful candidate applies technical knowledge to solve complex problems – often facilitated solely by technical background and skills, utilizing industry contacts and/or referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents and utilizing facility standards to maintain mechanical systems and equipment. All while working safely in or near hazardous voltages. Day-to-day work activities require an understanding of the interrelationships between various mission critical facility systems.

     

    The candidate has the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art facility where they will be included in planning and procedure development. The candidate will need to support mission critical facility roles such as mechanical, electrical, and building operations maintenance. This position escalates operational availability risks to leadership. This position may move to night shift to accommodate facility needs.

    Job Description

    QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY COMPETENCIES:

    • Minimum 3 years of Data Center experience or equivalent mechanical OJT.

    • Customer service experience required.

    • Demonstrated ability to write and perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities associated with facility mechanical systems.

    • Ability to write and update field reports.

    • Complete all required C&W and client mandatory training as scheduled annually.

    • Complete frequency-based infrastructure maintenance tasks on complex data center infrastructure.

    • Strong understanding of mechanical equipment and best practices.

    • Ability to use mechanical hand tools and testing equipment.

    • Exhibits basic level skills and knowledge of building systems and equipment.

    • Displays a willingness to cross-train on other data center systems.

    • Must have the ability to lift and move heavy objects (50 -75 pounds).

    • Ability to escalate operational risks to data center infrastructure leadership.

    • Demonstrate ability to communicate professionally, orally and written.

    • Exhibits good time management skills and neatness.

    • The ability to work safely where hazardous voltages and machinery are present.

    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (2007 or higher) desktop applications.

    • Must clear in-depth security background check.

    • Mechanical/HVAC Experience required.

    • Manual Dexterity — The ability to quickly grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.

    • Substantial lifting (up to 50 pounds) is required

    • Ability to stand and walk for extended or continuous periods of time

    • Ability to quickly bend, stretch, twist, or reach out

    • Ability to ascend and descend staircases, ladders, and/or step stools

    • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.

    The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.

     

    The compensation for the position is: $27.58 - $32.451923
