    Job Summary

    The Education & Learning Program Specialist is responsible for programmatic activities of TheFuture Public Health Leaders Program (FPHLP) (https://sph.umich.edu/fphlp/) , funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). FPHLP is a competitive summer immersion program that introduces students to the disciplines of public health.This position willreport to the Program Director.

     

    In this hybrid position,you willwork 2-3 days onsite weekly during the academic year (September-April) and 5 days onsite per week during the summer (May-August).You willtravel to on- and off-campus locations and occasionally work evenings and weekends.This position isterm-limited and grant-funded through September 28, 2027, with the possibility of continuation if the grant is renewed.

    Responsibilities*

    + Coordinate and manage all aspects of program operations, collaborating with faculty, staff, and community partners to design, deliver, and refine co-curricular activities, workshops, and training materials such as Canvas modules, webinars, visuals, videos, and related technologies.

    + Lead the implementation of core program components, including the community-based participatory research (CBPR) project, weekly professional development sessions, and the annual Summer Showcase.

    + Develop and execute a national communications and recruitment strategy, integrating website, social media, and marketing programs to attract and engage a diverse participant pool.

    + Oversee program evaluation and continuous improvement, collaborating with external evaluators on survey design, data collection and analysis, and preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts.

    + Provide training and technical assistance for student staff, mentors, and new partners to ensure program fidelity and operational consistency.

    + Advise program participants on academic and personal matters, maintaining confidentiality while supporting their professional and personal development throughout the program cycle.

    + Represent the program externally, presenting at universities and conferences, and cultivating partnerships that enhance visibility and collaboration.

    + Support fiscal and administrative operations, including processing purchases, reimbursements, and student travel, and assisting with sponsor and grant reporting.

    + Other responsibilities as assigned

    Required Qualifications*

    + Master's degree in public health or related field

    + Minimum four (4) years of relevant experience

    + Experience with in recruitment, program design, implementation, and management

    + Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methods

    + Public speaking skills and the ability to clearly present complex information

    Underfill Statement

     

    This position may be filled at the Intermediate or Associate level, depending on the selected candidate's experience and qualifications. The salary offered will be commensurate with the level of the position.

    Intermediate:

    $56,380 - $65,000

     

    Master's degree in public health or related field

     

    Minimum four (4) years of relevant experience

    Associate:

    $46,211 - $57,084

     

    Bachelor's degree in public health or related field

     

    Minimum one (1) year of relevant experience

     

    Background Screening

     

    The University of Michigan conducts background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background checks. Background checks are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
