Job Summary
Job Summary:
Responsible for assisting the University of Utah Division of Family and Community Medicine quality team, providers, medical and clinic patient care staff in ensuring quality patient care with performance improvement initiatives and payer requirements through quality improvement (QI) program design, and data collection, analysis and presentation.

Responsibilities
Job Duties:
1. Designs QI studies, develops criteria for evaluation, and assists assigned clinics with appropriate data collection and data analysis.
2. Reviews and interprets patient care information and other data sources used to assess quality care issues.
3. Creates reporting documents for departments to use for tracking QI activities, trends and patterns, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
4. Provides education on data analysis and utilization of information to clinical QI teams.
5. Facilitates clinic meetings, providing expert input regarding problem identification and resolution, continuous quality improvement ( CQI ), and other patient care and accreditation activities to ensure consistency in clinic operations and ensuring quality assurance goals are met.
6. May provide ongoing clinical support to Hospital programs by reviewing and logging charts and incident reports, and recording improvement activities and results.
7. Assist the QA manager in tracking and trending Quality Indicators, writing and executing validation plans and SOPs, deviation management, root cause analysis, carrying out CA/PA and other Quality Assurance duties as identified by management.
8. Evaluates data collection & reporting processes and identifies opportunities to improve communication efficiency and effectiveness and data-driven decision-making.
9. Provides feedback to assist in the creation of performance improvement goals and the development and implementation of best-practice policies & procedures.
10. Analyze quality assurance data to identify trends and report findings to leadership.
11. Provides input on problem identification and resolution and continuous quality improvement.
12. Remain current on policies and procedures for all operations and local, state, and national health policies.

Minimum Qualifications
**EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT :** 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

**Healthcare Quality Analyst, I:** Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master’s (or equivalency) degree.
**Healthcare Quality Analyst, II:** Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.
**Healthcare Quality Analyst, III :** Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.
Preferences
+ Bachelor’s Degree in a health care field or equivalency plus two years of clinical or related hospital experience.
+ May require some knowledge of “Quality Improvement” ideals with experience in a quality program (problem identification/investigation, root cause analysis, CA/PA).
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills and thorough attention to detail.
+ Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Suite – but specifically Microsoft Excel preferred.
+ Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Special Instructions Summary
This position may be filled as a Quality Analyst I, II or III position depending on applicant qualifications. Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience.
