Job description
The Quality mission is to lead the Quality Department, inclusive of Quality Assurance and Quality Control, and is responsible for the development, deployment and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) at the site level.
The Continuous Improvement role is expected to strategically drive and embed a culture of continuous improvement by mentoring teams in Lean both in manufacturing and office, leading key workshops and partnering with leadership to align improvement initiatives with both short and long-term business objectives
Summary of Duties:
Quality
• Lead the Quality Department, inclusive of Quality Assurance and Quality Control
• Accountable for maintenance and continuous improvement of the QMS.
• Monitor key performance indicators to report on the effectiveness of the QMS.
• Maintain applicable industry and regulatory certifications, e.g. AS9100, NADCAP.
• Manage and conduct an effective internal QMS audit program.
• Coordinate customer quality audits and timely responses.
• Manage third party compliance audits of our quality management system.
• Determine root cause of quality issues and drive effective corrective action.
• Participate in the design review and production readiness review processes.
• Accountable for Receiving, In-process and Final product quality inspections.
• Maintain all quality inspection equipment, inclusive of all calibration requirements.
• Analyze company processes and procedures.
Continuous Improvement
• Mentor and develop team members in Continuous Improvement methodologies (DMAIC, Green Belt, One Safran workshops), adapting coaching style to maximize team engagement and learning.
• Drive and enhance daily and periodic QRQC (Quick Response Quality Control) rituals, fostering a culture of rapid problem-solving and root cause analysis.
• Support visual management initiatives throughout production and support areas.
• Actively facilitate and lead Value Stream Mapping (VSM) workshops with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, eliminate waste, and optimize flows using Lean manufacturing principles.
• Provide support and methodology to senior leadership team to build site 5 year roadmap aligned on PMT and 1 year Progress plan aligned on Budget
• Lead by example and influence change, share successes, best practices, encouraging ownership and proactive participation from all team members in improvement initiatives.
Candidate skills & requirements
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree or 10 years' equivalent experience in manufacturing
Experience: Minimum 6-10 years Minimum equivalent experience in manufacturing 5 years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
Computer Skills:
• Basic knowledge Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Other Skills:
• Quality Assurance experience in the aerospace industry including AS9100 and FAA PMA / Repair Station experience
• Aerospace and product quality specific product knowledge
• Strong Communication skills (verbal, written, presentations)
• Structured problem solving skills in root cause analysis and defect reduction
• Strategic planning, resource allocation and employee development.
• Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
• Team coaching, Change management skills
• VSM (Value Stream Mapping), Visual management, Kaizen workshops
Additional Preferred Qualifications/Skills: (not required)
• Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
• Certified Manager of Quality
• Experience in leadership of quality / technical organization
• Experience working in a electro-mechanical design & manufacturing environment.
