    Position Summary

    The Student and On-Call Staffing Coordinator oversees and administers human resource functions for all student and on-call team members for units within the Division of Residential & Hospitality Services (RHS). Serves as a resource to department administrators and a liaison to central MSU Human Resources to manage and coordinate activities and interpret and implement human resources policies, procedures, and practices related to student and on-call employment. Supervises a team of Unit Human Resources Coordinators to ensure student and on-call staffing needs are met in a timely and efficient manner and in compliance with university, state, federal hiring guidelines.

     

    -Manages all student and on-call hiring and employment processes for RHS. Supervises Unit HR Coordinators who are responsible for:

     

    -Posting positions & maintaining applicant tracking systems for student and on-call positions.

     

    -Interviewing, selecting, and completing hiring paperwork for student and on-call team members.

     

    -Conducting on-boarding, orientation, training, and off-boarding for student and on-call team members.

     

    -Executing recruitment and retention strategies

     

    -Supervising Human Resources Interns and other student team members.

     

    -Coordinates recruitment and retention efforts with the RHS Human Resources Recruitment and Retention Officer.

     

    -Serves as a point of contact for RHS departments, RHS Human Resources and MSU Human Resources regarding student and on-call hiring within the division. Participates in departmental meetings to gather and share key information.

     

    -Serves as a member of the RHS Human Resources leadership team; assists in planning, reviewing, and implementing RHS strategic human resource initiatives.

     

    -Guides Unit HR Coordinators and managers on performance management strategies and addressing employee policy violations and other performance related concerns.

     

    -Interprets and applies Federal/State laws, MSU policies and procedures to provide information and guidance to Unit HR Coordinators and managers to resolve questions and/or issues.

     

    -Oversees student and on-call employee files and records.

     

    -Compiles various human resource reports as needed.

     

    -Participates in special projects and committees.

     

    -Other duties as assigned.

     

    All positions in RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency conditions, you will be expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If you have an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of your normally scheduled work hours remotely, you may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.     Minimum Requirements

    Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in designing and implementing training programs and human resource/labor relations management and computer applications; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Desired Qualifications

    Human Resource experience in a university setting; experience using HR-related systems (EBS and PeopleAdmin software) and employment policies and practices currently used by MSU Human Resources is desired but not required; experience working directly with people from diverse backgrounds; ability to flex communication style to multiple cultural environments and multiple social identities; demonstrated skills of leadership and communication, maturity, a well-developed sense of responsibility, sensitivity to individual differences, and an understanding of how to promote student learning and academic success; and interest and enthusiasm for working with students.
