Position Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a thermal-imagining camera system to monitor heat and water stress of crops. They will analyze spatial and temporal temperature changes in agricultural fields using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and manage the IoT sensor database and securing the web server to ensure all sensor data is properly transferred to the cloud. Additionally, the selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating research and laboratory and/or field operations to meet research goals.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, Computer Science Engineering; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in standard laboratory procedures and safety requirements and performing analytical and research techniques in a precision agriculture and irrigation areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A operator's license at the time of hire is required as candidate will be required to drive university vehicles.
Desired Qualifications
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Strong organization capabilities, strong writing and computer skills, and independent problem-solving skills. Attention to detail is critical, as well as the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, adhere to deadlines, maintain high ethical research standards, be open to feedback, and succeed in a team-oriented environment.
Minimum of two years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in sensor development, IoT (Internet of Things), and thermal imaging capturing and processing.
A Remote Pilot Certificate (Part 107 license).
