    Job Description:

    •Patient Safety Monitoring Technician I” is a clinical partner for the remote monitoring of patients who are deemed a safety risk. Patient Safety Monitoring (PSM) duties include, but are not limited to, watching, and alerting the patient and/or staff in the hospital and/or at home settings when a risk to the patient presents.

    _Patient Safety Monitoring (PSM) is a part of the Monitoring Center at Intermountain which provides cutting edge support for inpatient units across 22 hospitals within the Intermountain Healthcare system. Caregivers part of the PSM team interact with various high risk patients on a daily basis from a central monitoring location as part of a team dedicated to patient safety._

    Job Essentials

    + Confirms at the start of each shift the patients who will be monitored.

    + Continuously monitors patients for safety concerns.

    + Communicate with patients remotely.

    + Redirect patients to adhere to established safety measures and recommendations from nursing staff.

    + Coordinates with clinical staff to suspend monitoring when appropriate.

    + Notifies appropriate clinical staff of changes in patient's behavior.

    + Documents in iCentra.

    + Responsible for reporting/troubleshooting issues or concerns with remote monitoring equipment.

    + Collaborates and consults with RNs and other members of the interdisciplinary team for best patient care.

    + Demonstrate effective teamwork, prioritization, communication, and organization.

    + Fosters a safe environment by complying with the safety policy and taking appropriate action in an emergency.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

    + Ability to identify at risk situations prior to need for intervention or redirection.

    + Ability to multi-task during busy monitoring situations.

    + Ability to use computerized systems to enter and track information.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience working in healthcare settings (i.e., hospital, clinic, SNF, treatment facility, etc.).

    Physical Requirements:

    Physical Requirements

    + Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

    + Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

    + Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

    + Ability to stand/sit at an observation station position for extended periods of time.

    The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

     

    $17.68 - $22.98
