    We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to work as part of a production IT delivery organization enabling development teams world-wide. While we are looking for certain related skills, we are also looking for someone that is an eager and courageous problem solver with an appetite to learn.

    This entry level Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) position will be responsible to help manage and maintain a large-scale production IT environment supporting IBM product development. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in systems engineering, operations, automation, and troubleshooting - attributes aligned to deliver the required availability, scalability, and performance of our critical IT infrastructure.

    Responsibilities

    * Management, maintenance and support of various data storage solutions and environments

    * Apply critical thinking and problem-solving to improve overall IT operations

    * Support a strong cybersecurity posture and implement data protection policies

    * Provision virtual machines, install / maintain operating systems, and upgrade software

    * Analyze performance data, debug operational issues, and perform capacity planning

    * Automate various day-to-day repetitive IT tasks

    * Collaborate with a global team to help provide 24x7 support for large-scale production IT environments

    * Think and act like a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

    * Aims to automate tasks, monitor systems, and respond to incidents, improving system reliability and overall system quality

     

    Required technical and professional expertise

    * Experience in computer science (or similar) or equivalent experience

    * Basic skills in Linux administration/IT operations

    * Solid scripting and automation abilities - a working understanding of Python and shell scripting

    * Excellent communication skills collaborating with clients, customers, third party support and supply vendors, internal stakeholders, and team members.

    * Ability to provide on-call support as needed

    * Curiosity and inquisitive intuition and the ability to debug issues to find the root cause

    * Awareness of basic IT security compliance topics and CIS benchmarks

     

    Preferred technical and professional experience

    Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise

    * A basic understanding of IT Virtualization technologies: POWER VM, KVM, VMware, and OpenShift Virtualization

    * Exposure to structured IT environments and processes - networking, SAN Storage, compute clusters, containers, Kubernetes, and orchestration

    * Awareness with IT storage topics: clustered / distributed filesystems, NFS, backup systems, SAN Storage, and SAN Fabrics

    * Experience with IBM Products: Storage Scale (GPFS), Storage Protect (TSM), SAN Volume Controller, and POWER Hardware / HMC

    * Experience with Red Hat Products: Enterprise Linux, Directory Server, Satellite, OpenShift, High Availability, and Ansible

    * Programming / Development experience in conjunction with Git / GitHub source control
