Job Description:
The Pharmacy Inventory Control Technician is accountable for meeting all purchasing, receiving, inventory, and returning requirements for drugs and medical or surgical supplies in select hospital, specialty, community, Homecare or SCC pharmacies. This position manages activities related to the pharmacy inventory procurement caregiver processes. The incumbent works with Supply Chain pharmacy buyers to ensure optimal levels of pharmaceuticals and supplies are available at the best appropriate cost. The incumbent communicates and coordinates information relating to drug shortages and other supply challenges to the medication policy and outcomes team and appropriate key stakeholders. This position coordinates and manages procurement and inventory processes in a pharmacy department. Due to the magnitude and complexity of inventory, this role is limited in select Acute Care Hospital pharmacies, Homecare, Specialty, Investigational Drug Studies (IDS) Service, Oncology Services or Supply Chain Center (Central Fill or SCC Acute Care) locations. Location eligibility will be approved by System Pharmacy Operations Director and Chief Pharmacy Officer.
This position will work** **Monday - Friday (0730 - 1600 or 0800 - 1630), 1-2 Weekends/year for Inventory.
Essential Functions
+ Effectively and efficiently manages pharmacy inventory by overseeing ordering and procurement, distribution, returns, and payment. Works collaboratively with other Intermountain facilities as needed to ensure safety and care of patients is prioritized.
+ Functions as an expert and resource for inventory and purchasing systems, automated storage and dispensing devices, and any other software or hardware as assigned.
+ Monitor and manage pharmaceutical and supply shortages and acquire pharmaceuticals and supplies from appropriate alternative sources in accordance with laws and regulations.
+ Effectively communicate shortages and other market changes to key stakeholders.
+ Responsible for controlled substance management and documentation, including any and all assigned audit and quality assurance processes. Ensures all DEA required documentation is complete and organized to facilitate immediate access to information.
+ Coordinate annual physical inventory as required by the health system and laws and regulations and ensure that pharmaceuticals and supplies are stored in a secure, organized manner under the appropriate storage conditions to maintain their quality/integrity and minimize retrieval errors.
+ Develops, educates, and mentors all pharmacy staff regarding their responsibilities in maintaining an appropriate, organized, safe, and efficient supply chain. · Works with clinical staff to develop an effective response to drug shortage situations and recalls. Works collaboratively with pharmacy leadership to communicate with all appropriate medical, clinical, and business stakeholders.
+ Participates in quality improvement activities and seeks a team approach to developing and achieving best practices and processes in supply management.
+ Works with system supply chain in maximizing impact of system initiatives (e.g., cost avoidance, supply chain disruption, new products, formulary changes).
+ Possess knowledge of 340b pharmaceutical purchasing program and support of 340b compliance (if applicable to care site).
+ Maintain, replace and charge inventory supplied to other departments and clinics. Effectively work with outside agencies/facilities to coordinate borrowing and purchasing of pharmaceuticals in emergency situations in compliance with policy and regulations.

+ Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives. Identifies potential areas for improvement including processes that could be streamlined or revised to improve patient satisfaction. Identifies potential safety hazards that may create problems for patients and/or staff and takes appropriate actions. Maintains cleanliness of all assigned clinic working areas. Participates in departmental meetings, contributing ideas or feedback.
+ Completes documentation according to departmental standards and navigates multiple pharmacy and EHR software programs.
+ Promotes mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health. · Performs other duties as assigned. · May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
+ Perform pharmacy technician and other duties as required/assigned.
Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Current pharmacy technician certification or license applicable to state of practice. - and
+ Pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) through PTCB or EXCPT or other certifying board and successful registration/certification/licensure with the state of practice as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (not "in-training" or "provisional")
+ Current knowledge of state and federal regulations and statutes regarding the practice of pharmacy and the distribution of approved drugs, controlled substances, and investigational agents (where applicable). - and –
+ Two years of pharmacy technician experience including inventory monitoring or management in appropriate setting for role. - and –
+ Basic computer skills
Preferred Qualifications
+ Previous Pharmacy technician experience.
+ Experience with inventory and purchasing systems, automated storage and dispensing devices, and hospital pharmacy operations.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$24.49 - $37.27
