Job Summary and Qualifications
Responsible for the day-to-day clinical, technical and operational functions within Cardiology Services departments including leadership call coverage of the Cath Lab. Department management includes but not limited to: Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation, Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiac Day Recovery (Cardiology Services), Echo Lab for in-patient services and EKG physician reads. This includes, but is not limited to, the efficient, effective procurement, utilization and stewardship of all technical, physical and human resources. Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from neonate to geriatric. Maintains performance improvement activities within the departments and participates in CQI activities. Assures coordination of competency of all personnel. Assists in formulating the budget. Must be capable of developing, interpreting and administering all policies, procedures and protocols of the department, hospital and partnership. Must maintain efficient and effective department operations while requiring compliance with all JCAHO, state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols. Must possess critical thinking skills and be capable of assuming complete departmental authority and responsibility in the absence of the Director.
+ You will direct and participate in the human resource management function for the department by coordinating the selection, promotion, orientation and performance appraisal processes. You will participate in disciplinary action and ongoing assessment of all staff within the Cardiology Department assignment.
+ You will ensure availability of adequately trained/licensed staff to maintain departmental operations. Coordinate a safe and efficient staffing team, and when needed collaboration with contract staffing. Maintains competency records of contract staff and communicates all onboarding requirements.
+ You will coordinate orientation for new employees and ensures completion of annual performance appraisal for clinical Cardiology and support staff in conjunction with supervisors.
+ You will initiate, interpret, maintain and enforce Cardiology Services policies and hospital policies and procedures. Works with the director to maintain ongoing review of policies per hospital policy and system.
+ You will work with Hospital administration, Cardiology Director & Staff Physicians on planning, organizing and directing Cardiovascular Services including Cardiology Day Recovery, Cardiopulmonary Rehab, and maintenance of 24/7 coverage/on-call schedule of the Cardiac Catheterization Labs & Echo department. Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
+ You will make daily rounds in Cardiovascular Services (Cardiology Day Recovery, Cath Lab, Echo, & Cardiopulmonary Rehab) to judge effectiveness of operations, utilization of personnel and supplies, and general ethical and professional atmosphere.
+ You will flex staffing to appropriate levels for expected volume of scheduled and unscheduled patients/procedures. Floats staff between departments to optimize throughput.
+ You will communicate with Cardiologists and other physicians to coordinate and facilitate department schedules, and timely/optimal patient care.
+ You will carry-on continuous analysis, evaluation and audits of Services of assigned departments within Cardiovascular Services. (Cardiac Day Recovery, Cath Lab, Cardiopulmonary Rehab, Echo, EKG’s)
+ You will serve as a liaison between the Cardiovascular Department and customers, both internal and external.
What qualifications you will need:
+ Bachelor’s degree within job related field
+ Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in area of Cardiology related field; 2-3 years Supervisory
+ Preferred: 2-5 years Supervisor/Manager experience
+ BCLS/ BLS provider through American Heart Association or American Red Cross (Within 30 days of hire)
+ Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)/ALS (Within 30 days of hire)
+ NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) (Within 30 days of hire)
