What we want
The Project Director for Project ConNECT (Connecting Nurse Education to Rural Communities in Texas), under general direction, provides overall leadership and daily management of this four-year HRSA-funded initiative. Ensures that all project goals are met, including the integration of rural nursing competencies into the BSN curriculum, development of rural academic-practice partnerships, oversight of Rural Nursing Certificate implementation, and preparation of a sustainable workforce pipeline for rural nursing in Texas. Ensures all project activities comply with federal, state, and university regulations.

Required Education and Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree in nursing, public health, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Ten years of related experience in academic nursing, healthcare administration, rural health initiatives, or grant-funded program leadership or other related areas.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s degree strongly preferred
+ Experience directing HRSA or other federally funded projects.
+ Demonstrated success in building academic-practice partnerships.
+ Familiarity with rural healthcare systems and workforce challenges.

+ Strong leadership, organizational, and supervisory skills.
+ Ability to foster collaboration with faculty, students, and rural community stakeholders.
+ Effective communication and public speaking skills.
+ Knowledge of program evaluation, reporting systems, and grant compliance.

+ Demonstrated ability to promote a respectful, collaborative workplace characterized by professionalism and mutual respect.
+ Commitment to compliance with university, state, and federal regulations
+ Ability to work with internal and external executive-level clients, and effectively organize and plan on a detailed, task-oriented basis.
Responsibilities:
Project Leadership and Management
+ Directs day-to-day operations of Project ConNECT, ensuring alignment with HRSA objectives and TAMU-CON strategic priorities.
+ Leads implementation of rural nursing curricular innovations, clinical placements, and Community Action Teams (CATs).
+ Chairs or co-leads the Project ConNECT Steering Committee, engaging chief nursing officers, faculty, and community partners.
+ Provides oversight for academic-practice partnerships, rural faculty recruitment, and student immersion experiences.
+ Directs and supervises project team.
+ Approves project plans including budget, timelines, resources, goals, and deliverables.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
+ Serves as the primary liaison among Texas A&M College of Nursing leadership, academic-practice partners, and rural community stakeholders.
+ Maintains strong relationships with rural hospitals, critical access facilities, and partner counties.
+ Engages stakeholders in continuous quality improvement processes, including Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles and Rapid Cycle Quality Improvement (RCQI).
+ Builds partnerships while fostering a professional climate of respect, collaboration, intellectual curiosity, and cultural humility.
Evaluation, Quality Assurance, and Reporting
+ Oversees collection and reporting of HRSA performance measures in compliance with TAMU and federal guidelines.
+ Works with evaluators to track enrollment, retention, NCLEX outcomes, rural employment, and long-term workforce sustainability.
+ Ensures quality assurance across all project components, implementing corrective actions when needed.
+ Ensures all evaluation and reporting activities meet compliance requirements and reflect best practices.
Budget and Resource Oversight
+ Monitors project resources to ensure efficient use and sustainability planning.
+ Coordinates with TAMU Sponsored Research Services for compliance, fiscal oversight, and grant reporting.
Dissemination and Sustainability
+ Leads dissemination efforts including reports, newsletters, academic publications, and conference presentations.
+ Works with CON leadership to transition grant-funded positions and activities into permanent budget lines for long-term sustainability.
