What we want
The Revenue Cycle Manager, under direction, plans, organizes, directs, and manages day-to-day activities, developing and implementing procedures for the successful operational and financial administration of the College of Medicine and College of Nursing patient care billing activities/programs.
What you need to know
Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.
Required Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Five years of related experience with clinical coding and billing with significant experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, including billing and claims processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in business administration or closely related field.
+ Experience with revenue cycle management.
+ Experience in medical billing and/or coding.
+ AAPC or AHIMA Medical Coding Certification.
+ Extensive understanding of medical billing and Texas Medicaid.
+ Familiarity with electronic medical record systems; ability to scan medical records in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
+ Knowledge of TAMU rules and regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines, general understanding and working knowledge of electronic medical record systems (such as Epic).
+ Knowledge of word processing and Microsoft Excel spreadsheet applications.
+ Effective verbal and written communication skills.
+ Strong interpersonal, leadership, problem solving, and organizational skills. Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.
+ Ability to work cooperatively with others.
Responsibilities:
Revenue Cycle Management
+ Manages patient billing and insurance claims to ensure timely payments
+ Analyzes data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and lost revenue, producing reports to show financial performance
+ Develops and implements high-level work plans, policies and strategies to streamline the revenue cycle, improve coding accuracy and reduce billing errors
+ Ensures adherence to HIPAA and other regulations, communicate with insurance providers, and analyze contracts
+ Utilizes healthcare information systems, billing software, and analytics tools to support revenue cycle operations.
Management and supervision
+ Oversees and motivates revenue cycle department staff, which may include hiring, training, performance analysis and disciplinary actions
+ Develops goals and implements plans for staff to keep the denial percentage at 5%, keep days in Accounts Receivable under 30 days and have a new collection percentage of 95%.
+ Oversees payment posting staff
+ Evaluates performance of staff
Manage Patient and Insurance Payments
+ Ensures payments are posted to accounts in a timely manner
+ Prepares quarterly reports sent to the Director of Clinic Operations itemizing actual reimbursement from insurance carriers versus contracted rates.
Denied Claims
+ Works with billing group to resolve out of network and claim denials for providers and ensures insurance reimbursements for services performed are in line with contracted rates.
+ Performs ongoing review of denied patient care claims to determine if there are recurring issues.
+ Liaise with 3rd party revenue cycle vendor to ensure all patient care claims denials are rectified in a timely manner.
+ Develop high level work plans ensuring denied claims are being worked properly.
+ Implements a correction plan for recurring issues.
