    **Position Title:** Prebatch Operator (Material Handler)

    **Shift:** 2nd Shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday)

    **Pay Rate:** $16.50/hour

    **Location:** North Houston – Willowbrook Area

    Essential Responsibilities

    General Production Duties

    + Perform daily production, preventative maintenance, process data collection, and administrative tasks as per procedures and control systems.

    + Report safety, quality, or other issues related to products or production processes to Team Leader / Shift Supervisor.

    + Ensure all shift team production targets are met while maintaining appropriate quality standards.

    + Issue Corrective Action Reports (CAR) or Hazard Reports when relevant issues are noticed.

    + Provide progress updates to the Team Leader / Shift Supervisor.

    + Attend and contribute to team meetings.

    + Participate in investigations of HSE or quality issues (e.g., customer complaints, reject batches).

    + Contribute to Continuous Improvement activities and programs for HSE, Quality, ALPS, etc.

    + Support color adjustment activities as needed.

    Tank Wash

    + Clean portable tanks, valves, filters, pumps, and other equipment using cleaning chemicals, pressure washers, brushes, scrapers, and other tools.

    + Operate the automated tank washer machine.

    + Perform area housekeeping duties per expectations.

    + Complete other duties as needed to support production.

    Pre-Kit / Material Coordination

    + Maintain storage of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods.

    + Obtain materials needed for batch makers, adjusters, tinters, and fill-off teams.

    + Operate and inspect forklift daily; submit inspection forms.

    + Deliver ordered materials to designated areas for batch makers.

    + Return remaining materials or dispose of empty containers properly.

    + Assist fill-off operator in obtaining proper containers.

    + Transport finished goods to shipping, intermediates to storage, and overages to designated areas.

    + Move hazardous waste containers to accumulation area when full, labeled, and dated.

    + Keep yards and storage areas neat and clean.

    + Remove trash and rags from the building at the end of the shift.

    + Transition to other trained production tasks as needed.

    Fill-Off

    + Transfer completed products into containers (1 qt cans to tankers).

    + Apply correct labels and documentation per fill-off and safety procedures.

    + Measure and weigh product for proper yield.

    + Inspect containers for leaks and secure closures.

    + Complete batch tickets, label containers, and number them sequentially.

    + Send approved batches to shipping with documentation.

    + Dispose of filters and clean equipment (pump, tanks, filter housing, hoses).

    + Label and stage cleaning materials appropriately.

    + Stencil containers to meet customer and shipment requirements.

    + Maintain housekeeping standards in the fill-off area.

    Batch Making

    + Add raw materials in the order listed on the batch ticket.

    + Weigh and measure materials for yield and accuracy.

    + Coordinate sample testing with QC and adjust batches as instructed.

    + Maintain housekeeping standards in the batch area.

    + Support fill-off and tank washing tasks when trained.

    Milling / Grinding Operation

    + Operate machine controls to maintain specified flow and temperature.

    + Demonstrate competency in Lockout/Tagout/Tryout procedures.

    + Lift metal objects up to 40 lbs to a height of 5 feet.

    + Set up pump trains for vessel transfers.

    + Select and set up mill components (media, screens, internal pin disruption).

    + Break down and clean mill; inspect for wear using indicator tools.

    + Understand color development and use grind check tools.

    Level of Autonomy

    + Perform tasks independently as trained and authorized.

    + Identify and report safety or quality concerns without needing prior approval.

    Job Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications

    + High School Diploma.

    + Ability to read, comprehend, and follow safety instructions and guidelines.

    + Ability to pass forklift test and obtain certification.

    + Ability to operate a forklift safely and efficiently.

    + Ability to read and apply accurate labels.

    + Ability to measure and weigh materials accurately.

    + Ability to lift and handle containers (up to 75 lbs), pigment bags (60 lbs), and maneuver drums (up to 600 lbs).

    + Effective interpersonal skills.

    + Ability to work independently and multitask.

    + Strong safety awareness and leadership.

    + Ability to climb stairs wearing steel-toed footwear.

    + Ability to work in hot/cold environments and inclement weather.

    + Ability to work in a heavy manufacturing setting with chemical exposure.

    + Ability to stand or walk for long periods.

    + Arm-hand steadiness and near vision for detailed tasks.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Prior experience in a paint manufacturing facility.

    + Prior manufacturing experience.

    + English speaking.

    + Basic Microsoft skills.
