The Senior Data Engineer will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of scalable data systems that support analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and business intelligence (BI) initiatives. Participate in the creation of robust, efficient, and automated data pipelines while implementing advanced data integration and governance solutions.

As a Senior Data Engineer, a typical day might include the following:

+ Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and processing data from diverse systems such as MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems), EAMS (Enterprise Asset Management Systems), and QMS (Quality Management Systems).

+ Automate data workflows to meet analytics, AI, and ML requirements, ensuring high performance and reliability.

+ Utilize tools and platforms such as Talend, Informatica, Boomi, and AWS Glue for building and managing data pipelines, with a focus on performance optimization and error handling.

+ Implement and support the integration of structured and unstructured data from multiple sources into centralized data lakes, data warehouses, or other storage systems.

+ Collaborate with stakeholders to establish and enforce data governance frameworks, including policies for data quality, security, lineage, and compliance.

+ Monitor and resolve data quality issues using automated tools and manual checks to ensure accuracy and consistency.

+ Prepare and optimize datasets for AI/ML workflows, ensuring compatibility with model training and inference requirements.

+ Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to understand data requirements and provide tailored data solutions.

+ Contribute to the development of feature engineering pipelines and real-time data streaming for AI/ML applications.

+ Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, data scientists, and business analysts, to deliver high-quality data solutions aligned with organizational goals.

+ Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, to ensure timely delivery of tasks.

+ Share knowledge and best practices with team members and contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and tools.

+ Perform ongoing monitoring, testing, and debugging to ensure the stability and scalability of data systems.

This role may be for you if you have:

+ Experience with using GenAI to support own work and experience with ETL concepts and tools

+ Knowledge of SQL, Python & Microsoft technologies (Azure, Power BI)

+ Knowledge of AWS services (e.g., S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda) is beneficial

+ Exposure to Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices using tools like Jenkins, Git, or Azure DevOps

+ Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools like Jira or Trello

+ Understanding of data governance concepts, good communication skills & willingness to learn and grow.

In order to be considered for this position, you must hold a BA/BS in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related field and

+ Data Engineer: 2 years of relevant experience

+ Senior Data Engineer : 5 years of relevant experience

+ Familiarity with regulated industries preferred

+ May consider equivalent combination of education and experience. Level is determined based on qualifications relevant to the role.
