    We are seeking an accomplished Industrial Hygiene professional with a strong environmental engineering background to join our Health, Safety, Security & Environmental (HSSE) Team. This strategic role will provide the subject matter expertise, technical guidance and be a strategic leader of our comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental program across all re:Cycle Reverse Logistics facilities worldwide.

     

    Reporting to the HSSE Global Manager, this position will spearhead industrial hygiene initiatives, occupational health programs, and ergonomic assessments while managing third-party vendors and implementing innovative protective processes for our workforce. The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge of industrial hygiene principles, environmental engineering concepts, and global safety standards, complemented by demonstrated success in implementing large-scale health and safety initiatives in a complex, multi-site organization.

     

    Key job responsibilities

    Key Responsibilities:

    - Leverage deep technical expertise in environmental engineering and industrial hygiene to develop innovative solutions for complex operational challenges

     

    - Lead comprehensive workplace assessments utilizing advanced ergonomic analysis tools and industrial hygiene monitoring techniques

     

    - Design and implement global standards for workplace safety, drawing on best practices in environmental engineering and occupational health

     

    - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize processes, workstation designs, and material handling systems

     

    - Provide technical consultation on product development, tooling specifications, and facility modifications to ensure optimal working conditions

     

    - Direct and coordinate third-party vendors while maintaining rigorous compliance standards

     

    - Develop global data-driven recommendations for process improvements that align with both environmental and occupational safety objectives

    Basic Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety, or related technical field (Master's preferred)

    • Professional certification required: Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

    • Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in industrial hygiene, environmental engineering, or occupational health & safety, with at least 5 years in a leadership role

    • Demonstrated expertise in conducting workplace exposure assessments, ergonomic evaluations, and implementing control measures

    • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, ISO standards, and international EHS requirements

    • Experience managing third-party vendors and developing/implementing global safety programs

    • Proven track record of successful project management and process improvement initiatives

    • Proficiency in industrial hygiene sampling methodologies and interpretation of analytical results

    • Experience with ergonomic assessment tools and methodologies (NIOSH, REBA, RULA, etc.)

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable recommendations

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels

    • Willingness to travel (up to 30%)

    • Experience with sustainability initiatives and environmental management systems is strongly preferred

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Multiple relevant certifications such as:

     

    - Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

     

    - Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

     

    - Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE)

    - Registered Environmental Manager (REM)

    • 12+ years of progressive experience in industrial hygiene and environmental engineering within a global manufacturing or logistics environment

    • Experience implementing and managing ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or similar management systems

    • Advanced expertise in:

     

    - Risk assessment methodologies

     

    - Exposure modeling and statistical analysis

     

    - Environmental impact assessments

     

    - Sustainability program development

    - Global regulatory compliance

    • Demonstrated success leading enterprise-wide EHS initiatives across multiple international locations

    • Experience with digital transformation of EHS processes and implementation of EHS management information systems

    • Experience working with regulatory agencies and managing compliance audits

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $239,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
