    **Job Title:** Payroll Specialist / Bookkeeper

    **Location:** Modesto, CA

    **Pay Range:** $25.00 – $30.00 per hour

    **Schedule:** Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 5:00 PM

    Job Summary:

    We are currently seeking an experienced **Payroll Specialist** to join our Modesto office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll processing, including **certified payroll** , and be comfortable handling **in-house payroll operations** . **Full charge bookkeeping** experience is highly preferred.

     

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing payroll responsibilities independently. The role may evolve into handling complete in-house payroll, so adaptability and initiative are key.

    Responsibilities:

    • Process weekly payroll(s) for employees

    • Prepare and manage **certified payroll reports** in compliance with prevailing wage laws

    • Maintain accurate payroll records, including timekeeping and deductions

    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations

    • Collaborate with HR and management to resolve payroll discrepancies

    • Assist with **in-house payroll setup and transition** , as needed

    • Support accounting team with **full charge bookkeeping tasks** , such as:

    + Bank reconciliations

    + General ledger maintenance

    + Financial reporting

    Qualifications:

    • 3+ years of payroll experience (in-house or third-party processing)

    • Strong understanding of **certified payroll** and prevailing wage compliance

    • Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., QuickBooks, ADP, Paycom, or similar)

    • Experience with **full charge bookkeeping** is highly preferred

    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

    • Ability to work independently and handle confidential information responsibly

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in a construction, manufacturing, or similar industry

    • Knowledge of labor compliance reporting tools and portals

    • Bilingual in Spanish (a plus but not required)

    Compensation & Benefits:

    • Competitive hourly wage: $25.00–$30.00/hr (based on experience)
