    Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerJob Description

     

    We are seeking a dedicated Manufacturing Engineer who will be responsible for analyzing and improving production processes. The role requires a proactive approach to resolving issues, maximizing line output, and ensuring efficient labor management.

    Responsibilities

    + Review output from the previous day to produce actionable plans.

    + Spend significant time on the shop floor to proactively resolve issues.

    + Understand the product's form, fit, and function to assist in production, maintenance, and quality debugging.

    + Prepare and revise Process Flow Diagrams, Operation sheets, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

    + Monitor and analyze production processes to enhance performance, efficiency, and reduce reject rates.

    + Support and report on technical issues during weekly meetings or management reviews.

    + Lead Failure Analysis efforts for production and performance issues.

    + Generate and manage Requests for Process Change forms through approval.

    + Create Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Requests for Variance (RFVs) as necessary.

    + Serve as the main internal technical contact for assigned programs.

    + Support the Configuration Control of Technical Data Packages for products.

    + Define process control requirements, including Statistical Process Control (SPC) for production processes.

    + Participate in risk assessment for production operations.

    + Engage in Build Readiness Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, and Production Readiness Reviews.

    + Assist in line setup, including layout, flow, equipment, and storage.

    + Request and issue Shop Work Order (SWO) numbers.

    + Build and analyze test samples to understand design margins and product performance variations.

    + Lead Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for assigned programs.

    + Build pre-FAAT, pilot, or engineering test samples.

    + Support customer technical requests and provide effects on production processes and performance.

    + Collaborate with Quality and Purchasing to resolve supplier issues.

    Essential Skills

    + 3+ years of experience in the defense industry, manufacturing engineering, and process engineering.

    + Experience with continuous improvement, product launch, and process improvement.

    + Familiarity with automated manufacturing processes and assembly cells.

    + Strong hands-on approach and capability to interact with operators.

    + Experience owning process lines from start to finish.

    + Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), value stream mapping, and process audits.

    + Experience in leading Kaizen events and conducting time studies and cycle time calculations.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with low mix/high volume assembly processes is a plus.

    + Familiarity with tooling design, Minitab, Lean manufacturing, assembly, automation, PFMEA, ammunition, new product launch, Kaizen, Six Sigma, tooling, and Solidworks.

    + A four-year degree is not necessary; relevant experience is key.

    Work Environment

    The work schedule is from 7am to 5pm with an hour lunch, following a 9/80 work schedule. Employees work four nine-hour days and an eight-hour day every other Friday. The team consists of engineers managing up to four programs across various lines, coordinating with tooling, operations, quality, and shop floor teams. The environment is clean, with opportunities for growth and tuition reimbursement.

    This is a Permanent position based out of Janesville, Wisconsin.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
