Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Survey Crew Chief for an immediate opportunity in our Survey Department. The role involves collecting field data for the preparation of surveys using various equipment and software. As a Survey Crew Chief, you will oversee small survey crews in the field and lead all site activities. This full-time position encompasses both field and office responsibilities, engaging in projects such as transportation surveys, site development surveys, boundary surveys, GPS, and construction staking. The majority of the work will be conducted in the field at various job sites within central Ohio. A company vehicle will be provided for work-related activities.
Responsibilities
+ Collect topographic field data for survey preparation using surveying equipment and software.
+ Effectively use maps, drawings, plans, and aerial photographs to assess project needs.
+ Assist in recovering survey control and monumentation, construction layout, obtaining invert and subsurface utility information, and photo documentation.
+ Apply knowledge and techniques of surveying and advanced mathematics.
+ Maintain survey equipment and initiate repairs when necessary.
+ Stay updated on surveying practices, guidelines, and best practices.
+ Research project documentation, deeds, and plats; set-up project binders, download data, and perform other office tasks.
+ Prepare drawings and maps using Carlson Survey, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
Essential Skills
+ 2+ years of experience leading survey crews in the field.
+ Experience with topographic, ALTA, transportation, and/or boundary surveys.
+ Proficiency in operating total station, data collectors, robotic, and GPS equipment.
+ Computer skills in Carlson Survey, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ A degree in survey, engineering, or a related field is a plus but not required.
Work Environment
The role requires working almost entirely in the field, with occasional office work. The majority of projects are located in Central Ohio, primarily within the 270 area. The survey group includes disciplines such as Builder Services (residential new builds), Commercial Site Development, Land Development (also residential new builds), utility/infrastructure projects, and small projects like boundary surveys and lot splits.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr.
