Job Title: Diesel Technician - Night Shift
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Diesel Technician to join our night shift team. The primary role involves maintaining and repairing trucks, focusing on engines, transmissions, and other critical systems. This position requires a strong commitment to safety and quality, ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet.
Responsibilities
+ Perform diagnostics and repairs on truck engines, transmissions, and other components.
+ Conduct safety inspections and routine maintenance.
+ Prepare and maintain handwritten and computer-generated work records of garage activities.
+ Provide accurate estimates and timelines for repairs.
+ Communicate effectively with customers and team members.
+ Perform DOT inspections.
+ Lead and manage complex in-shop and on-site repairs and maintenance.
+ Provide expert service and support to customers while mentoring junior field technicians.
+ Perform maintenance and repairs on medium/heavy duty equipment including tractors, trailers, refuse vehicles, yard spotters, and construction equipment.
+ Perform vehicle diagnostics, aftertreatment systems, hydraulic system diagnostics, and electrical system diagnostics.
+ Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures as well as legal regulations.
+ Complete mid-level internal engine and driveline repairs independently.
+ Develop valuable customer relations and guarantee efficient attention to customer needs.
Essential Skills
+ State of Michigan Medium/Heavy Duty Mechanic Certifications or 1-2 years of experience in truck repair.
+ Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
+ SOM Medium/Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification - Brake.
+ 2-4 years of experience as a truck technician or equivalent.
+ Extensive knowledge of truck systems and repair techniques.
+ Leadership skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
+ Must be State of Michigan Master Certified Medium/Heavy Duty Mechanic.
+ Must have a valid CDL-A License.
+ Must possess a Section 609 EPA Refrigerant Handling Certification.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Diesel Repair experience, possibly from military, repair shop, etc.
+ Mechanical aptitude, such as tinkering, replacing own brakes, using hand tools.
+ At least 1 year of Preventative Maintenance experience, including grease jobs, changing filters, and oil changes on cars or semi trucks.
+ Motor rebuild experience is a plus.
+ ASE certification.
+ State mechanic license.
+ 3+ years of semi truck experience would be beneficial.
+ Heavy equipment repair experience.

Work Environment
The work environment features open bays that provide a cooler setting in the summer, as well as climate control for year-round comfort. Technicians work flexible 8-hour shifts between 4 AM and 6 PM with opportunities for overtime. The facility is equipped with the necessary tools and technologies to ensure efficient and effective repair and maintenance operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Battle Creek, Michigan.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
