Job Title: Shop Helper

Job Description

As a Shop Helper, you will assist welders and fabricators in creating stairs, staircases, and railings for commercial buildings. You will be trained in welding, fabricating, and operating saws, and will be expected to lift up to 75lbs independently.

Responsibilities

+ Assist welders and fabricators in the shop.

+ Help in the creation of stairs, staircases, and railings.

+ Operate hand and power tools efficiently.

+ Participate in training for welding, fabricating, and saw operation.

+ Perform heavy lifting tasks as required.

Essential Skills

+ Experience with general labor and operating hand/power tools.

+ Ability to perform heavy lifting.

+ Basic knowledge of fabrication and machine operating.

+ Experience in grinding, welding, and saw operation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Mechanically inclined with a background in shop classes.

+ Degree from a technical school is beneficial.

+ Experience of at least 3 months in a manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

Work as part of a small team in a setting typical of central Minnesota. The shop comprises several buildings, including some repurposed farm structures. The role is full-time, with 1st shift hours from 5am to 3pm Monday through Thursday, and 5am to noon on Fridays. Employees are required to wear pants and steel-toe boots, with welding equipment and gear provided if necessary.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Michael, Minnesota.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $31.00/hr.
