**Schedule:** Monday–Thursday (Some Fridays)
**Location:** Based in Waterloo, Iowa
**Travel:** Midwest Region
**Home Time:** Every Weekend
Position Summary
The Superintendent is responsible for leading all on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This role demands strong leadership, attention to detail, and seamless coordination between field staff, subcontractors, and the Kirk Gross project management team.
Key Responsibilities
+ Direct and oversee all aspects of construction projects, including scheduling, site cleanliness, safety compliance, manpower allocation, and trade coordination.
+ Supervise field employees and subcontractors to ensure work aligns with project specifications, client expectations, and deadlines.
+ Plan and schedule labor, materials, and equipment to support project goals effectively.
+ Review project scope thoroughly before construction begins and maintain clear communication with the Kirk Gross project team throughout all phases.
+ Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and city officials.
+ Ensure high standards of workmanship in accordance with architectural plans and specifications.
+ Perform general construction tasks as needed, including demolition, framing, finish carpentry, trim work, and drywall installation.
+ Accurately read and interpret architectural plans, blueprints, and technical documents.
+ Manage jobsite tools, materials, and equipment, ensuring proper use, storage, and timely return.
+ Identify faulty equipment and coordinate repairs through the office.
+ Oversee punch list completion and resolve issues promptly to ensure successful project closeout.
+ Document scope changes and back charges, and communicate updates to the project manager in a timely manner.
+ Submit properly coded receipts and delivery tickets accurately and on schedule.
Qualifications
+ Minimum of 4+ years of experience in commercial construction, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
+ Proven experience managing ground-up commercial construction projects.
+ Strong background in coordinating subcontractors, vendors, and site logistics.
+ Skilled in framing, cabinetry, door installation, and tile work.
+ Proficient with hand tools and tape measure usage.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ **Tech Savvy:** Experience with ProCore, BusyBusy, Microsoft Outlook, and Google Docs.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $44.00/hr.
