PRODUCTION PLANNER

Summary:
The Production Planner is responsible for planning, processing, releasing, and managing production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements and best utilize the company’s productive capacity and in some cases managing inventory levels.
Essential Functions:
+ Acts on order releases action and exception messages from the ERP system.
+ Plans and manages production schedules and work-center loading to meet customer delivery requirements and best utilize the company’s productive capacity.
+ Plans, schedules and modifies workflow for various departments and operations according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
+ Manages inventory levels, schedules and availability of selected items, either manufactured or purchased, to meet production schedules.
+ Analyzes requests for maintenance/repair services and accounts for their impact on capacity availability and plans accordingly.
+ Expedites purchase order proposals when necessary.
+ Interfaces with Engineering and Purchasing to ensure effective and accurate flow of manufacturing orders.
+ Initiates replacement orders for rework and warranties.
+ Enters and dates purchase order proposals for materials into the ERP system.
+ Interfaces with manufacturing personnel, the Purchasing department, Sales, and supervisors on material status and production planning issues.
+ Resolves problems utilizing acquired knowledge and analytical abilities.
+ Makes manpower recommendations based on short- and long-term capacity loads.
+ Works with forecasting tools to predict future capacity constraints.
+ Works with various reports and measurements to evaluate work-flow effectiveness.
+ Perform product structure cost rolls.
+ Participate in production meetings.

Education and Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
+ Minimum 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
