Job Description
The Systems Analyst II is a full-time position, located in White Sands Missile Range, NM. This position willsupport software development for military systems through Software Safety and Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) of software documents, contractual statements of work, test procedures, and qualification test results to ensure the software is safe for the customer to use. The primary job responsibility is to ensure that all software safety requirements are properly defined, mapped against the correct hazards, and tested to a sufficient Level of Rigor (LOR). The analyst will develop software safety reports from test data, code review, Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA) and Fault Tree Analysis per the MIL-STD-882 and will be presented to the customer. Any issues with the safety of the software will also be presented via working groups amongst the customer, project office and developer to progress towards a safer system for the customer.Duties and Responsibilities* Work independently to analyze the software hazards and coordinate recommendations in eliminating or mitigating those hazards* Perform software safety analysis techniques on contractually delivered products throughout the software development and life cycle process* Attend testing events to verify that the test procedures are being completed according to the requirements and test plan, while also validating if the procedures pass or fail* Maintain logs of test event progress for issues concerns* Collect data from testing and updated documentation to prepare and present reports to the customer through working groups, ensuring any safety issues are understood by the developer* Understand the functionality of the system’s software and what the software controls to assess hazards* Ensure hazard controls are being met according to MIL-STD-882* Review specifications, technical documentation, and changes to those documents for impacts to system safety* Independently perform software safety tasks according to the activities and requirements of the AR 385-17* Attend or support Software Safety Working Groups (SSWG) to present current safety issues concerning documentation, testing and requirement development or verification shortfalls* Develop Safety Releases concerning hazard mitigations and residual risk for the customer to evaluate the systems total risk * Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Skills and Qualifications* Proficient with Microsoft Office* Understand the functions of software* Able to work independently* Documentation and presentation preparation skills* Familiar with software engineering analysis, assessment and documentation tools* Strong Technical background* Experience with an analysis process* Strong decision making skills* Strong public speaking and presentation skills* Time management skills* Excellent written and oral skills* Understanding of basic computer programming* Must be able to work both as part of a team and independently* Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed, sometimes on shortnotice, to support test missions Physical Demands and Working Conditions* The work of this position is performed in an environmentally controlled office environment * Must be capable of sitting and entering data on a computer keyboard for extended periods of time * Must be able to view computer monitor for extended periods of time * Must be able to lift 25 pounds unassisted * Reasonable accommodation can be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the duties and responsibilitiesTerms of Employment and Eligibility Requirements* Must be a U.S. Citizen* Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent* Must possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictions* Must pass a pre-employment drug screening * Must be able to successfully complete a background check* Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employmentThe lists above are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel in this position.
