    Job Description

    The Access Control is responsible for ensuring the security and monitoring of access to restricted locations at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) and Fort Bliss. The role involves verifying credentials, maintaining logs, and operating security systems to manage and control access efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess a keen attention to detail, a strong understanding of security protocols, and excellent communication skills.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAccess Verification:* Review and verify individual credentials against authorized access lists* Authorize entry to restricted areas only for those with proper clearances and permissions* Operate security systems, including Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), closed-circuit television (CCTV), and access control systems* Log all security incidents, access activities, and personnel movements in and out of restricted areasSecurity Monitoring:* Monitor and control physical entry points to ensure only authorized personnel gain access* Conduct regular inspections and security checks as part of Random Access Measures to ensure compliance with security policies* Perform security-related tasks such as visual inspections of parcels and monitoring lobby areasData Management and Reporting:* Maintain accurate logs documenting the activities of personnel within restricted areas* Prepare and submit detailed incident reports for any security breaches or irregular activities observed* Periodically update and maintain security logs and access lists for completeness and accuracyCoordination and Communication:* Interface with security personnel, Technical Inspectors, and other relevant authorities to handle security concerns* Report any suspicious activities or potential security threats immediately to the appropriate authorities* Provide timely updates and reports to the Government Test Representative (GTR) regarding access control activitiesCompliance with Security Protocols:* Adhere strictly to Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Army, and WSMR security policies and regulations* Ensure that all security procedures are followed correctly and that restricted areas are secure at all times* Assist with the enforcement of policies related to portable electronic devices within restricted areas* Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Required Skills and Qualifications* High school diploma or GED equivalent required* Previous experience in a security or access control role preferred* Must be a U.S. citizen and over 18 years of age* Proficiency in operating security systems, including IDS and CCTV* Basic computer skills for maintaining logs and generating reports* Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) Physical Demands and Working Conditions* The work of this position is performed in an environmentally controlled office environment and sometimes in the field where you are subject to the environment * Must be capable of sitting and entering data on a computer keyboard for extended periods of time * Must be able to view computer monitor for extended periods of time * Must be able to lift 25 pounds unassisted * Reasonable accommodation can be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the duties and responsibilitiesTerms of Employment and Eligibility Requirements* Must be a U.S. Citizen* Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent* Must possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictions* Must pass a pre-employment drug screening * Must be able to successfully complete a background check* Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employmentThe lists above are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel in this position.
