    Summary

    APS Accounting Systems is looking for an experienced and dynamic Business Systems Leader to oversee our Financial Asset Management & Financial Transaction Repository System, PowerPlan. In this pivotal role, you will lead a dedicated team of business systems analysts, fostering their growth and ensuring the delivery of reliable, accurate, and efficient support for PowerPlan. You will drive operational excellence by managing process improvements, facilitating collaboration among Accounting, IT, and other business areas, and aligning business needs with technical solutions. Your leadership will ensure the seamless execution of monthly close processes, proactive problem-solving, and the successful implementation of strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, a passion for continuous improvement, and expertise in enterprise financial systems.

    What You’ll Do:

    + Lead and guide a team of business systems analysts dedicated to providing functional support for PowerPlan, fostering excellence and professional development within the group.

    + Ensure the efficient, dependable, and accurate execution of the PowerPlan Monthly Close Process.

    + Oversee and prioritize system and process improvement initiatives to address evolving business needs.

    + Facilitate collaboration between Accounting, IT, and other business areas to troubleshoot issues, implement system changes, and ensure accurate financial information.

    + Manage the intake, prioritization, and execution of requests for changes and enhancements to PowerPlan, balancing business priorities with technical feasibility.

    + Engage with stakeholders across departments to guarantee accurate and compliant financial transactions in PowerPlan, participating in cross-functional projects and initiatives.

    + Plan, budget, and forecast business support requirements for PowerPlan and related applications, ensuring optimal resource allocation.

    + Champion proactive problem-solving and leverage technology to address complex business challenges.

    + Assist in the development and execution of a strategic roadmap for financial business systems, aligning with organizational goals and future requirements.

    Minimum Requirements

    + BS/BA equivalency or an equivalent combination of four years relevant work experience and relevant college coursework in business, information technology or a related area.

    + Strong understanding of database design, structure, functions and processes and experience with database tools; usually obtained through a minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible professional level experience.

    + Effective leadership skills including recruiting, interviewing and hiring, training, coaching and evaluating performance, providing functional guidance, assignment delegation and follow-through, and dealing with difficult situations.

    + Previous people leadership experience is desirable.

    + Strong understanding of Business processes and data.

    + General business and operational knowledge including functions, procedures, processes, and computer systems.

    + Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and tie functional needs to technology solutions.

    + Requires proficient knowledge of emerging practices and technologies used within the area.

    + Previous project management experience and ability to prioritize work.

    + Strong analytical ability to review data, see relationships and patterns.

    + Skilled in consulting and project management methodologies while working with business customers and executing projects.

    + Expertise in PC applications including advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word.

    + Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including ability to make presentations on key initiatives.

    Major Accountabilities

    1) Collaborates with direct reports as well as cross-functional team members to set business plan objectives and goals for Business Support projects and ongoing administration and maintenance.

     

    Ensures goals and priorities are aligned with overall business unit goals and monitors progress toward goals.

     

    2) Manages the day-to-day activities of the Support systems area. Coordinates team members to meet objectives and timelines.

     

    3) Creates positive relationships with constituents and serve as an interface between IS and functional areas to ensure the effective delivery of business system applications.

     

    4) Evaluates current trends and emerging technologies in automated technologies and the capabilities of new products for all applicable Business functions and how they may impact the existing systems area.

     

    5) Drives the selection and development of new products, conversions, upgrades, and enhancements for all automated efforts in coordination with IT and functional leaders.

     

    6) Plans, budgets and forecasts future needs and applications in alignment with the applicable Business Technology Roadmap.

     

    7) Maintains awareness of vendor plan and the potential impact those plans may have on current and future system functionality.

     

    8) Keeps managers and executives informed of impending business issues that will have a direct impact on the current systems.

     

    9) Continually examines and reviews controls and procedures to ensure high standard of data integrity, documentation and analytical reporting without compromising a comprehensive and integrated design.

     

    10) Provides recommendations and direction on system related practices and procedures, policy interpretations and problem resolution.

     

    11) Develops the Support systems team and guide their efforts to continually improve the delivery of systems. Provides feedback and coaching and ensures training and development opportunities to create a high performing support systems team.

     

    12) Oversees the analysis and recommendation, installation and maintenance of new systems and the enhancement of existing systems.

     

    13) Provides input regarding functional requirements, policy/procedure interpretation, and future needs.

     

    14) Provides application/system training and support to functional Super users and/or other employees.

     

    15) Leads and oversees the activities to support business systems, including documentation, user acceptance testing and reporting/analytics.

     

    16) Researches, analyzes, and resolves routine to complex business/operations problems related to systems utilized within the business unit. Interfaces with IT or vendor to resolve issues as necessary.

     

    17) Follows up with resolution of problems to ensure timely response and customer satisfaction

     

    18) Manages system related projects of significant size, scope and strategic implications.

     

    19) Coordinates multiple participants and teams, plans and schedules scope and timeline, monitors successful and timely task completion.

     

    20) Works with others on the implementation, communication, training and change management initiatives around projects.

     

    21) Manages the documentation of system changes, business processes, guidelines and procedures, and tools and training aids needed to support business unit.

     

    22) Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and regulatory agency laws and policies, internal operating policies and procedures, and audit standards.

     

    23) May conduct regular or adhoc reviews of database and/or daily transaction
