The CQO will collaborate with interdisciplinary stakeholders across operations, IT, population health, data analytics, nursing, pharmacy, implementation science, and health services research. The CQO will also guide efforts to publish and share quality improvement insights locally and nationally, positioning the department as a leader in quality and learning health systems.

The ideal candidate is a distinguished academic clinician or researcher with leadership experience in quality improvement within a large academic medical center or integrated health system. Candidates must hold an M.D. (or equivalent), or Ph.D. The successful candidate will receive an academic appointment commensurate with their qualifications.

-Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders

-Demonstrated success in managing and mentoring multidisciplinary teams

-Experience in utilizing the approaches and methods of process improvement and implementation science as evidenced by achieving targeted outcomes

-Proficiency in LEAN methodology, the Model for Improvement, and the use of learning tools such as Statistical Process Control charts, with the ability to effectively teach and mentor faculty, trainees, and medical students in quality improvement

-A strong record of scholarship, publication, and presentations related to quality and patient safety

Confidential inquiries, nominations, or submissions of interest (curriculum vitae, informative personal statement, and response to UCLA’s mission statement) are invited and will be considered until an appointment is made:
