Job Summary
The S.C.O.P.E. (Sheriff’s Community Oriented Policing Effort) Incident Response Team [herein referred to as SIRT] Coordinator works under the direction of the Spokane County Sheriff, or designee, and under the guidance of the S.C.O.P.E. Director.
The primary responsibility of this civilian, non-commissioned, extra-help position is to coordinate the recruiting, training, and operations of the SIRT Team, a team composed of S.C.O.P.E. volunteers who provide traffic control services to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. *Please note: This is an extra-help, non-benefited position. Work hours may vary as needed or required.

Official transcripts from the school of your highest level of education and/or transcripts showing proof of your highest degree obtained must be submitted to the Civil Service office in order to move forward in the hiring process. All transcripts must be official documents; they cannot be uploaded by applicants to your application.
Examples: if you graduated high school and have some college credits, but no degree, you will need to order BOTH high school and your college transcripts; if you have an Associate's or Bachelor's degree and no additional college, then only order the transcript showing proof of your degree; if you have an Associate's or Bachelor's degree plus additional college, please order BOTH college transcripts, etc.

TESTING INFORMATION
TBD: Testing for this position will be dependent on the number of qualified applicants and may include a Training & Experience Form, Oral Board Interview, or a combination of the two. Full details on testing will be sent to all qualified applicants after the posting deadline.
Examples of Duties
The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as an exclusive list of all essential job functions performed by all employees in this classification, but only as a representative summary of the primary job functions and responsibilities. Incumbent may not be required to perform all job functions and may be required to perform additional, position specific tasks.
Provide effective and compassionate leadership to the SIRT Team.
Oversee the condition and functionality of the vehicles assigned to the team.
Maintain adequate supplies and equipment to ensure and maintain the team’s effectiveness; maintain inventory and distribution of SIRT equipment and uniforms, as needed; maintain effective records of all portable radios issued to SIRT team members.
Participate in the necessary community pre-event meetings with event organizers to assess and finalize their traffic control needs; develop and prepare Traffic Control Plans (TCP) for community-sponsored special events; ensure TCPs are submitted to the Spokane County Risk Management Department for their approval within established timeframes.
Ensure the viability, useability, and effectiveness of the SIRT website.
Prepare agendas and conduct monthly SIRT meetings.
Instruct all SIRT and S.C.O.P.E. team members in periodic basic traffic control training in coordinator with the Spokane County Risk Management Department and the procedures outlined in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Must be a citizen of the United States, a lawful permanent resident, or a deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) recipient; must be able to speak, read, and write the English language; high school diploma or GED.
A valid drivers’ license is required at the time of application and must be retained throughout employment.
In addition to the above requirements, applicants must have obtained an equivalent to at least one (1) year of full-time professional experience in public safety communication or closely related law enforcement field, volunteering with law enforcement, or analytical work in the criminal justice arena.
Incumbent is required to undergo and successfully complete a full background investigation with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Background Investigation Unit prior to being hired.
