EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency dedicated to helping over 79,000 people through 100 impactful programs across Long Island and NYC, is looking for a dedicated part-time Case Coordinator to join our Long Island Dispute Resolution Center (LIDRC) on a temporary basis.

     

    + Wage: $24 per hour

    + Location: 99 Main Street in Hempstead NY and EAC LIDRC Program Office located at 175 Fulton Ave, Suite 400 in Hempstead

    What drives the core purpose of this job:

    The Case Coordinator (Temporary, Part-Time) supports the Nassau District Court Small Claims Mediation Program by combining on-site court responsibilities with flexible administrative duties. From 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, the Coordinator is present in court to greet and orient litigants, manage intake, and support mediation logistics. The remaining weekly hours may be completed at the program office, remotely, or in a hybrid arrangement, and include preparing the monthly small claims mediation calendar, coordinating mediator schedules, and maintaining accurate data entry in the statewide case management database.

    Work Schedule:

    This is a temporary part-time position (19 hours per week). Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on-site at Nassau County District Court. The remaining weekly hours may be fulfilled on a flexible basis at the program office, remotely, or in a hybrid arrangement, to complete administrative duties such as data entry, calendar preparation, and mediator scheduling.

    What are the key Responsibilities:

    + Welcome and orient parties referred to mediation in Small Claims Court.

    + Conduct intake and distribute required forms (Consent to Mediate, surveys, demographic forms, etc.).

    + Explain the mediation process using neutral language and ensure parties feel supported.

    + Direct litigants to mediation rooms, clerks, or the courtroom as needed.

    + Mediate Small Claims Court cases, as needed.

    + Create and maintain the monthly Small Claims Mediation Calendar, securing dates from volunteer mediators and confirming availability.

    + Perform data entry and maintain accurate records within the statewide case management database.

    + Maintain case files, ensure proper data retention, and manage program data for reporting and evaluation purposes.

    + Prepare and submit required mediation reports, forms, case dispositions, and agreements to both LIDRC and court staff.

    + Maintain positive working relationships and communicate regularly with referral partners, including the NYS Office of Court Administration and Nassau County District Court staff.

    + Participate in mandated and continuing education trainings as required by funders and program standards.

    + Ensure confidentiality and compliance with program policies, court rules, and ethical standards.

    + Contribute to the development and improvement of program procedures and resources.

    What key knowledge, skills, and abilities are required to excel in this role:

    + Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in human services, legal studies, or conflict resolution preferred.

    + Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm, neutral, and professional while upholding confidentiality and ethical standards.

    + Organizational and scheduling skills, including database/data entry proficiency, with the ability to work independently in a busy courthouse environment.

    + Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with volunteer mediators, court staff, and program personnel.
