    Requirements

    Georgetown University in Qatar is seeking highly energetic and enthusiastic individuals with a demonstrated commitment to student engagement to join our Student Affairs team as Student Affairs Coordinators. We offer three positions with a unique opportunity to contribute to a truly international campus environment, working closely with a diverse and strongly engaged student body representing many cultural backgrounds.

     

    All positions are Term appointments for two years, from August 2026 through June 2028.

    Key Accountabilities

    + Engage students individually and collectively to foster a sense of belonging and community.

    + Support GU-Q diversity initiatives that foster cross-cultural dialogue and more inclusive programming.

    + In line with the principle of Cura Personalis (Care of the Whole Person) encourage and support student involvement in co-curricular programs as a means of developing skills in planning, organization, communication, money management, creative problem-solving, and self-assessment.

    + Monitor and promote the use of Campus Groups (GU-Q Engage) for departmental programs and events.

    + Work closely with the Student Life team to coordinate and support signature programs and university-wide traditions, contributing to the unit’s culture of care, creativity, and community.

     

    Position 1: Student Affairs Coordinator – Spirit

     

    The Student Affairs Coordinator for Spirit plays a central role in cultivating campus pride and enthusiasm by enhancing programs and traditions that strengthen the GU-Q community. Through vibrant events and recreational activities, this position fosters a lively and welcoming atmosphere that celebrates the shared identity of students, faculty, and staff. By refining and expanding existing initiatives, the coordinator ensures that every program reflects GU-Q’s values and creates lasting memories for the student body.

     

    Key Activities

     

    + Enhance and coordinate signature GU-Q traditions, including Hoya Welcome Week, End-of-Year Dinner, Georgetown Day, International Ball, Grill Outs, and Open Mic Nights, ensuring each event builds enthusiasm and fosters connection.

    + Strengthen athletics and recreational programs as opportunities to encourage school pride, teamwork, and inclusive participation.

    + Collaborate with students and campus partners to refresh established activities and develop new approaches that make programs more engaging and memorable.

    + Identify ways to increase student involvement in campus traditions, ensuring events reflect the diverse interests and backgrounds of the GU-Q community.

    + Maintain an environment where students feel inspired to participate in campus life and contribute to a spirited community culture.

    + Create innovative ways to spotlight student achievements and milestones across campus.

    + Serve as a visible, approachable presence at events, encouraging student engagement and belonging; provide logistical support and attend evening and weekend events, as needed.

     

    Position 2: Student Affairs Coordinator – Leadership

     

    The Student Affairs Coordinator for Leadership promotes student growth by enhancing programs that develop skills in collaboration, communication, and initiative. This position uses co-curricular opportunities, especially the Georgetown Ambassadors Program, to help students strengthen their leadership potential and apply it in meaningful ways. Working closely with student groups and campus partners, the coordinator ensures leadership development is accessible, inclusive, and tied to the values of the GU-Q community.

     

    Key Activities

     

    + Support the development of clubs, student government, Georgetown Leadership Track, Georgetown Ambassadors, and athletics by helping student leaders make their activities more impactful and inclusive.

    + Refine leadership programming to help students practice decision-making, teamwork, and problem-solving through real engagement opportunities.

    + Collaborate with students to adapt existing programs so they reflect evolving student interests and community needs.

    + Promote pathways for students to translate leadership experiences on campus into skills applicable in academic, professional, and personal settings.

    + Track and celebrate student leadership achievements through recognition programs.

    + Provide logistical support and attend evening and weekend events, as needed.

     

    Position 3: Student Affairs Coordinator – Connectedness

     

    The Student Affairs Coordinator for Connectedness fosters a campus environment where students build meaningful relationships across cultures, experiences, and backgrounds. This position focuses on enhancing programs that promote intercultural understanding, community reflection, and personal belonging. Through intentional programming and ongoing collaboration with students, the coordinator creates opportunities for authentic connection within the diverse GU-Q community.

     

    Key Activities

     

    + Strengthen initiatives that connect local, Qatari, and international students, creating shared experiences that encourage mutual respect and cultural exchange.

    + Enhance key programs such as ESCAPE retreats, International Orientation, First-Year Introduction, and Student Affairs Iftars, ensuring they are inclusive, reflective, and responsive to student needs.

    + Develop and refine activities that encourage dialogue and collaboration among students from different backgrounds.

    + Collaborate with student leaders and organizations to ensure community-building programs remain relevant and impactful.

    + Foster spaces where students feel a sense of belonging and are encouraged to participate in the life of the university.

    + Maintain ongoing relationships with student groups to understand and respond to emerging community needs.

    + Actively seek ways to bridge cultural and social divides, and inculcate healthy habits, making sure every student feels welcome and valued.

    + Provide logistical support and attend evening and weekend events, as needed.

    Requirements

    + Bachelor’s degree.

    + Recent graduates of Georgetown University in DC are preferred (ideally within 2 years of graduation).

    + Leadership experience.

    + Mentorship, teaching or tutoring experience is preferred.

    + Understanding of Georgetown University’s vision and mission for students

    + Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    + Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

    + Demonstrated event-planning and organization skills.

    + Ability to learn new policies and procedures, meet deadlines, and work under time pressure.

    + Proficiency in utilizing social media platforms (X, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)

    + Familiarity with PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Photoshop and/or InDesign is preferred.

    + Proficiency with MS Office and Google Apps.

    + Ability to work on various shifts and readiness to participate in evening and weekend events.
