Located at various Scripps campuses.**Receive an additional ~$3/hr for the Scripps Systemwide Resource Services (SSRS) Differential due to the travelling nature of this position within this department. *

*What you'll do: *

* This position requires you to float to various clinics all over San Diego County across multiple specialties.

* Knowing their professional scope of practice as defined by the California Business and Professional Code and for successfully completing the Scripps Clinical Core competency program.

* Maintaining a clean, organized and safe environment.

* Organizing and performing patient care services that support the physician's practice, including:

o Assisting in preparing patients for examination/procedures

o Assisting physicians with procedures

o Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person

o Collecting patient data in person and by phone

o Documenting patient concerns, messages, and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review

o Administering medications specifically directed by the physician

o Performing vital sign documentation

o Scheduling of appointments and procedures

o Complete and accurate message taking

o Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction

o Order and referral entry

o Acquisition of pre-certifications

o Setting up cases in EPIC

o Basic registration and updating of demographics

*Required Qualifications:*

* Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program OR hold a Medical Assistant Certification OR have a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman

* BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

* One year of experience working as a Medical Assistant

*Preferred Qualifications:*

* 2 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant

* Experience supporting two or more providers

* Experience rooming 15 or more patients per day
