Our Director of Procurement will lead our strategic sourcing and procurement operations. Responsibilities will include sourcing strategic components, indirect spend, and re-engineering our procurement processes and platforms. You will work cross-functionally to ensure we have the right suppliers, materials, and cost structures in place to support our growth and innovation. As Evolv’s procurement lead, you will drive supplier performance, cost optimization, and supply continuity while building a scalable procurement infrastructure.
What does success in the role look like?
Within the first 30 days you will:
+ Complete an audit of current sourcing practices and deliver a summary report with at least 3 key improvement opportunities.
+ Identify top 5 strategic suppliers and prepare negotiation strategy documents for at least 2 master agreements.
+ Establish baseline spend analysis and identify at least 3 potential cost-reduction opportunities.
+ Conduct alignment meetings with contract manufacturers and document agreed roles and responsibilities.
+ Define and present an initial set of procurement KPIs and reporting templates to leadership.
+ Map current procurement process and identify at least 2 critical compliance gaps for remediation.
+ Hold introductory meetings with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams and produce a documented alignment plan.
+ Draft initial outline for ethical sourcing policy and identify 2 priority areas for sustainability improvements.
Within 90 days you will:
+ Deliver a draft strategic sourcing framework aligned with company goals and secure leadership approval for implementation.
+ Engage top 5 strategic suppliers and renegotiate terms for at least 2 master agreements with improved pricing or lead times.
+ Identify and prioritize minimum 3 cost-reduction/value engineering initiatives with projected savings and timelines.
+ Complete a detailed SOX-compliant procurement process redesign plan, including workflow diagrams and resource requirements.
+ Launch a basic procurement dashboard tracking KPIs (cost savings, supplier performance, risk mitigation) and share monthly updates.
+ Finalize and implement a procurement alignment plan with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams for new product introductions.
+ Publish a draft ethical sourcing policy and secure stakeholder feedback for refinement.
Within the first 12 months you will:
+ Fully implement the strategic sourcing framework and demonstrate at least 10% cost savings across targeted categories.
+ Achieve 95% on-time delivery and <2% defect rate for strategic suppliers.
+ Complete procurement process re-engineering and achieve 100% SOX compliance, validated through internal audit and positive stakeholder feedback.
+ Launch a comprehensive procurement dashboard with monthly reporting on KPIs (cost savings, supplier performance, risk mitigation).
+ Execute at least 3 major cost-reduction/value engineering initiatives, delivering measurable savings.
+ Establish a supplier performance management program, including quarterly reviews and scorecards.
+ Implement an ethical sourcing policy and ensure 100% compliance among strategic suppliers.
+ Build a scalable procurement infrastructure that supports new product introductions and company growth.
The Work: What type of work will you be doing?
As Evolv’s first Procurement lead, you will have the opportunity to define and build the strategic procurement function from the ground up, and re-enigneer existing procurement processes. This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring a balance of long-term planning and day-to-day execution.
Strategic Procurement Leadership
+ Define and execute a procurement vision aligned with company growth and scalability.
+ Develop sourcing strategies for direct and indirect spend categories.
+ Drive supplier selection and negotiation for long-term partnerships.
+ Ensure procurement strategies support new product introductions and innovation.
Supplier Relationship Management
+ Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers.
+ Implement supplier performance scorecards and quarterly reviews.
+ Negotiate master agreements with best-in-class terms and conditions.
+ Resolve supplier issues promptly to maintain continuity and quality.
Cost Optimization & Value Engineering
+ Analyze spend data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
+ Lead cost-reduction initiatives across the supply base.
+ Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to optimize designs for cost.
+ Track and report savings achieved through procurement strategies.
Compliance & Risk Management
+ Ensure procurement processes meet SOX and regulatory requirements.
+ Develop risk mitigation plans for supply chain disruptions.
+ Partner with Legal to maintain contractual compliance.
+ Monitor supplier adherence to ethical and sustainability standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
+ Work closely with Finance to align procurement with budgeting and forecasting.
+ Partner with Engineering and Quality teams for product development needs.
+ Communicate procurement priorities to internal stakeholders.
+ Support operational teams with timely sourcing and material availability.
Compensation and Transparency Statement
The base salary range for this full-time position is $160,000- $200,000. In addition to base salary, this role offers a competitive target bonus, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package. This range reflects our commitment to pay transparency and equity, in alignment with applicable state laws. Our compensation ranges are determined based on factors such as role, level, location, market benchmarks, and internal equity. The posted range represents the good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this role across U.S. locations. Actual compensation within the range will be based on the candidate’s skills, experience, education, and geographic location.

Where is the role located?
This role is based in our headquarters in Waltham, Massachusetts. Due to the nature of our software-enabled hardware products, this position requires daily on-site work, where the majority of our Engineering, Manufacturing, and Field and Tech Support teams are based. There is approximately 20% anticipated domestic travel required for supplier visits.
