Senior Accountant
Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will lead the monthly financial close process, manage licensing agreements, and collaborate with senior leadership to build annual budgets. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
+ Lead the monthly financial close process, including preparation of journal entries and reconciliation of accounts.
+ Compile and analyze monthly financial statements, highlighting key variances and trends.
+ Interpret and manage licensor-side royalty agreements to ensure proper revenue recognition, reporting accuracy, and cash flow forecasting.
+ Administer and optimize the use of licensing software to monitor quarterly royalty submissions from partners.
+ Generate and distribute invoices for minimum guaranteed royalties to licensing partners.
+ Deliver custom financial reports and support special initiatives as needed.
+ Provide guidance and oversight to the staff accountant on licensing-related activities.
+ Collaborate with senior leadership to build annual budgets and update financial forecasts.
+ Oversee monthly close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and intercompany balances, as well as AP accruals.
+ Review licensee-side royalty contracts to ensure accurate expense tracking, reporting, and timely payments.
+ Calculate and prepare quarterly royalty obligations and reports for licensors.
+ Submit royalty invoices to accounts payable for processing.
+ Partner with the sales team to deliver sales projections requested by licensors.
+ Support audit readiness and documentation for external financial reviews.
+ Produce tailored reports and contribute to cross-functional projects.
+ Execute additional duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
+ Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting, ideally within retail, wholesale, or eCommerce sectors.
+ Proficiency with ERP systems, especially NetSuite.
+ Highly self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
+ Results-driven with a commitment to ethical standards.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong professional relationships.
+ Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
+ Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and large data manipulation.
+ Exceptional organizational and time management capabilities.
+ Reliable follow-through and ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
Work Environment
The work environment offers a hybrid schedule with four days on-site and remote work on Fridays.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
