    We are looking for an Applied Scientist II to join our Agent Tools team!  This is an exciting time to join our group and work on something highly strategic to Microsoft. In this role, you will apply data science techniques to improve platform reliability, optimize performance, and enable AI-driven insights that shape the future of enterprise applications.     Responsibilities

    You will be collaborating with a fast-growing team of skilled applied scientists and software engineers to implement solutions and enhance customer experience. You will be responsible for implementing AI features towards a wide variety of business problems within the Dynamics 365 products portfolio while meeting rigorous quality standards with the result being software that is used by individuals and businesses throughout the world. In short you will do the following:

     

    + Partner with engineering teams to integrate predictive insights into distributed systems and services.

    + Focus on particular aspects of our product, developing extensive knowledge in the domain and technical framework, notably in Large Language Models, and play a role in advancing product development through ongoing awareness of industry trends and technologies.

    + Design and analyze experiments (e.g., A/B tests) to validate hypotheses and measure impact on customer experience and platform health.

    + Develop dashboards and metrics to monitor model performance and service health.

    + Communicate findings and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders through clear, actionable insights.

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality and effective use of analytics in decision-making.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

    + OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

    + OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field

    + OR equivalent experience.

    + 2+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or related areas.

    + 2+ years of experience in applied machine learning, statistical modeling, and experimentation.

    Other Requirements:

    Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

     

    + **Microsoft Cloud Background Check:** This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

    Preferred Qualifications :

    + Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

    + OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

    + OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

    + OR equivalent experience.

    + 1+ year(s) experience creating publications (e.g., patents, peer-reviewed academic papers).

    + Experience in developing generative AI applications.

     

    Applied Sciences IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
