Software Engineer II and Senior Software Engineer (Multiple Positions)

We are looking for a smart, agile, and intellectually curious **Software Engineer II and Senior Software Engineer (Multiple Positions)** who loves creating and building things that delight and protect our customers. You will be working with a team of bright engineers, PMs, and designers, and work closely with other teams across Microsoft to deliver large scale, distributed architectures, and features to meet OneDrive and SharePoint's core service needs.

Responsibilities

+ You will work in large-scale distributed systems that are critical for customers around the world.

+ You will design and deliver services that manage internet-scale data stores, enable file and site browsing and editing performance, or add innovative features to how people manage and interact with their data.

+ You will contribute to and help shape the vibrant, inclusive engineering culture of OneDrive & SharePoint.

+ You will be expected to do deep, data-driven, collaborative design for additions and changes to our products.

+ You will write clean, efficient code and comprehensive tests.

+ You will build solid coverage with metrics and telemetry to ensure we understand exactly what is happening with our services at all times.

+ You will deliver features that will support and serve hundreds of millions of customers around the world.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java

+ OR equivalent experience.

+ 2+ years experience working with large-scale distributed systems.

+ 2+ years experience debugging complex codebases developed by another engineer.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

+ **Microsoft Cloud Background Check:** This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Experience with building cloud-scale infrastructure components.

+ Awareness, passion, and experience related to cloud scale distributed design and patterns.

+ Familiarity with secure software design concepts.

+ Demonstrated ability to deliver projects that include multiple components.

+ Ability and eagerness to work across and partner with multiple engineering teams to achieve business goals.

+ Experience with Performance Optimization.

+ Experience creating an algorithm and implementing it in C#, Java or C++.

+ Experience with cloud-scale services and server/service management features.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
