The Chair of the Advanced Science Course Directors is a key educational leader in the Post-Clerkship Curriculum of the University of Colorado School of Medicine. The Chair provides strategic leadership, coordination, and oversight of the ASC Directors, ensuring delivery of high-quality, consistent, integrated, and student-centered medical education. The Chair collaborates with ASC Directors, Content and Pillar Directors, the Office of Assessment, Evaluation, and Outcomes, and administrative staff to ensure that the ASC curriculum advances the school's mission, supports student readiness for residency, and meets accreditation requirements. This role fosters innovation, promotes best practices in curriculum design and assessment, supports continuous quality improvement (CQI), and ensures alignment with institutional goals and LCME standards. Supervision Received: The position will report to the Assistant Dean, Post-Clerkship Curriculum Supervision Exercised: Advanced Science Course Directors & Assistant Course Directors across the Anschutz Medical Campus and the Fort Collins Branch Campus Leadership and Oversight
+ Ensure curricular alignment with medical school goals, graduation competencies, accreditation standards, and competency-based outcomes.
+ Oversee curriculum design and delivery, promoting evidence-based educational practices, assessment consistency, and incorporation of medical science, clinical skills, and health systems content.Administrative and Operational Duties
+ Oversee organization and execution of ASC courses, ensuring syllabi, objectives, assessments, and schedules are accurate, accessible, and aligned with learning goals and accreditation standards.
+ Facilitate collaboration and communication with ASC Directors, Pillar Directors, faculty, and staff; chair committees and participate in curriculum and review meetings.
+ Support continuous improvement by standardizing policies and practices, monitoring outcomes, and preparing reports and presentations on ASC performance and innovations.Curriculum Execution and Program Innovation
+ Oversee ASC curricula by aligning course goals, objectives, educational strategies, and learner assessments.
+ Ensure integration of competencies and milestones while supporting adherence to curriculum policies and accreditation requirements.
+ Contribute to curriculum development and mapping, adapting content to meet evolving needs, LCME standards, and directives from oversight bodies.Curriculum Review, CQI, and Accreditation
+ Monitor and evaluate ASC courses in collaboration with OME Assessment and Evaluation to identify areas for improvement.
+ Review course evaluations and lead CQI efforts, providing feedback, action planning, and coordination with ASC and Pillar Directors.
+ Support program evaluation and accreditation by preparing reports, analyzing data, and maintaining curriculum inventory.Faculty Support and Professional Development
+ Mentor and support ASC Directors in their educational and administrative responsibilities, setting clear expectations and providing feedback.
+ Foster collaboration among ASC and Pillar Directors to strengthen curriculum integration across courses and phases.
+ Promote faculty development in teaching, assessment, and educational scholarship.

+ Candidates must be able to obtain a faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

+ At least 5 years of experience in medical education or healthcare education, including curriculum development, clinical education, educational leadership, program management or course direction. **Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Available for preferred start date: January 19, 2026
+ Demonstrated expertise in educational best practices, assessment, and curriculum integration.
+ Experience coordinating or leading advanced science or post-clerkship medical school courses, including course content development.
+ Familiarity with LCME accreditation standards and requirements
+ Experience with simulation, active learning methodologies, or technology-enhanced learning
+ Track record of educational scholarship or research **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**
+ Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
+ Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students
+ Demonstration of effective collaboration and teamwork
+ Ability to lead and inspire faculty & staff teams toward a shared vision for the curriculum
+ Deep understanding of the medical knowledge and clinical readiness expected of students entering residency.
+ Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and value working within a team
+ Ability to interpret and use data for continuous quality improvement
+ Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
+ Ability to cultivate relationships with both university and community physicians and be available to answer questions and problem solve as needed
