Job Summary
This part-time position is responsible for implementing outstanding customer service policy and procedures for visitors at the museum's front desk. This position opens and closes the museum and its exhibitions and assists with monitoring the facility during open hours on Saturdays, with the possibility of additional weekday hours as needed. The position reports to the Chief Curator and Director of Academic Engagement and works along side the Visitor Experience Liaison to support a team of student employees.
This position maintains timely and accurate attendance records and implements security procedures. As a front-line staff member, this position provides visitors with general information about the museum and university, which requires keeping current on university and museum events, deadlines, policies and procedures. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Front Desk Operations and Customer Service:
+ Facilitate visitor reception and orientation.
+ Provide information to visitors and answer questions.
+ Respond to telephone inquiries.
+ Monitor museum visitor tracking by maintaining accurate attendance records for museum entry.
+ Open and close museum and its exhibitions on Saturdays.
+ Serve as point person for solving general concerns and immediate issues encountered by student museum attendants and the public (following established museum procedures and implementing the chain of contact established in the museum's disaster plan or the security plan.
Visitor Experience Team Support:
+ Serve as on-site support for student staff in the absence of Visitor Experience Liaison.
+ Fills in for Visitor Experience Liaison during weekday hours if available.
What You Should Know
This is an onsite, part-time temporary role working Saturdays 10:00 - 4:00pm with potential for occasional evenings. We anticipate this assignment lasting 9 months.
What We Can Offer
The hourly rate for this part-time position is $22.

What We Require
+ 1 year of experience in occupational fields related to the work assigned to this position.
+ Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
+ Must be available and willing to regularly work weekends. Hours 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
+ Must be available and willing to work occasional evenings
What You Will Need
+ Ability to work independently and with responsibility for initiating and completing tasks
+ Proficient computer knowledge and skills with MS Office applications
+ Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, with a variety of professionals, administrators, and students.
+ Proven ability to work independently and assume responsibility for initiating and completing critical functions in the management of educational programs.
+ Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and within other collaborative work situations.
