Job Title: Mechanical Technician
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $26/hour
Summary
The Mechanical Technician will support engineering staff by modifying, testing, and repairing machinery and equipment. This role involves hands-on work assembling diesel engine test and prototype hardware and performing testing in an engineering lab environment. The ideal candidate has solid mechanical assembly skills, experience with automotive or diesel truck engines, and a reliable, detail-oriented work ethic.
Education & Experience
+ Preferred: Associate degree or certification in Engineering Technology or a related field.
+ Required: Minimum of 2 years of relevant hands-on experience, preferably with automotive or diesel truck engines.
Responsibility Level
Performs work under moderate supervision, exercising independent judgment as directed by the supervisor or engineering staff.
Key Skills & Competencies
+ Mechanical assembly skills for both small and large components using hand tools.
+ Basic computer literacy and written communication skills.
+ Punctual, dependable, and team-oriented.
+ Creativity, problem-solving, and analytical thinking.
+ Ability to create sketches, engineering drawings, and perform basic calculations.
+ Familiarity with engineering design software and computer applications.
+ Knowledge of manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
+ Assemble diesel engine test and prototype hardware; perform functional and performance testing in lab settings.
+ Review project instructions, blueprints, and specifications to determine test objectives and identify potential design or assembly issues.
+ Prepare parts sketches, work orders, and purchase requests for components or contractor services.
+ Draft detailed drawings or sketches to support fabrication or assembly requirements.
+ Evaluate and verify tool and component designs, ensuring accuracy and functionality according to engineering specifications.
+ Inspect drawings and documentation for accuracy, coordinating corrections as necessary.
+ Collaborate with engineering teams to discuss design modifications, methods of manufacture, and assembly improvements.
