You'll leverage your current experience and join our team of scientists and engineers in design of integrated circuits for emerging applications in low temperature environments. You’ll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside a broad array of scientists and engineers to make these design solutions a reality.

     

    Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking motivated engineers and scientists to join our research and development design team, which focuses on custom, low-power, low-temperature, RF, analog, and mixed-signal integrated circuits.

     

    Selected candidates will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Superconducting Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) design team working closely with internal semiconductor foundry.

    In this role, you will:

    • Contribute your expertise in advanced design techniques and semiconductor manufacturing/testing

    • Enhance your task leadership and electromagnetic (EM) simulation skills

    • Develop innovative circuits, design techniques, and best practices

    • Learn systems-level communication skills to effectively collaborate with various teams

     

    You will work closely with design leadership, product owners, fabrication, test, and theory teams to conduct comprehensive experiments and drive our aggressive research and development schedule. All work is performed in a Linux environment using state-of-the-art computer-aided design tools.

     

    This position offers exposure to multiple disciplines and provides the opportunity to expand your skills in several directions based on your interests.

    Basic** **Qualifications** **for Principal Circuit Design Engineer

    + Bachelor of Science STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) degree with 5 years of experience in RF, Analog, or Mixed Signal Circuit design (3 years with technical MS or 1 year with a PhD)

    + Strong attention to detail and organization

    + Experience in custom Integrated Circuit (IC) design or layout in Cadence Virtuoso or similar design automation software in Linux environment

    + Strong problem solving, analytical, written, and oral communication skills

    + Interest in mentoring junior designers

    + Able to collaborate with multiple team members and other teams to complete chip leadership tasks

    + This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. Citizen

    + Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance per customer’s requirements

    Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Circuit Design Engineer

    + Bachelor of Science STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) degree with 8 years of experience in RF Analog, or Mixed Signal Circuit design (6 years with technical MS or 4 years with a PhD)

    + Strong attention to detail and organization

    + Proficiency in Cadence Virtuoso or similar IC design software in Linux environment

    + Working knowledge of the IC design flow including schematic capture, simulation, and layout

    + Strong problem solving, analytical, written, and oral communication skills

    + Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in simulation tool development, verification, and loop closure comparison to test results

    + Ability to independently take concepts and derive action items to complete assigned tasks with minimal guidance

    + Experience in mentoring junior designers

    + This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. Citizen

    + Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance per customer’s requirements

    Preferred Qualifications for both levels

    + Proficient use of at least one of the following software tools for linear and nonlinear circuit characterization: ANSYS (HFSS/Maxwell3D), ADS (Momentum), COMSOL, etc.

    + 2D and 3D Electromagnetic (EM) modeling experience with commercial tools such as ANSYS (HFSS/Maxwell3D), COMSOL, Momentum, etc.

    + Programming experience in Cadence SKILL or Python

    + Experience in semiconductor fabrication, testing, and/or novel idea creation.

    + Experience in small to medium size team leadership.

    + Experience in Process Design Kit development and Linux infrastructure setup and maintenance.

    + Active U.S. Government security clearance

     

    Primary Level Salary Range: $105,400.00 - $158,000.00

     

    Secondary Level Salary Range: $131,100.00 - $196,700.00

     

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

     

    Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
