A Healthcare Unit Clerk is a healthcare professional responsible for many of the administrative duties in a healthcare setting. They work to manage patient records, getting paperwork ready for their colleagues to access. Having previous office or administrative experience can be helpful for this role since you are in charge of many medical records duties. When working as a Healthcare Unit Clerk, you need to effectively manage multiple tasks at a time, such as data entry filing, answering phone calls, and greeting patients.
+ Following security measures to ensure patients' information is safe and confidential.
+ Managing discharge documents, patient health history forms, admission and discharge documents, and other paperwork.
+ Completing receptionist duties, such as sending emails, answering phone calls, ordering supplies, and scheduling appointments.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
+ Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
+ Must be able to speak and write the English language understandably.
+ Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
+ Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure the requirements of this position can be fully met.
+ Must function independently, have the flexibility and personal integrity, and work effectively with resident personnel and support agencies.
+ Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a medical and physical examination.
+ Must be able to push, pull, move, and lift a minimum of fifty pounds to a minimum height of four feet and be able to push, pull, move, and carry such weight a minimum distance of two feet.
+ Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergencies.
WORKING CONDITIONS
+ Is subject to frequent interruptions.
+ Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
+ Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, visitors, and vendors.
+ Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, bruising, scratches, and odors.
+ Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions.

EDUCATION
High School diploma or GED and CNA Certification
