Salary Ranges:
Systems Engineering Level 1- Manager I : $90,590 - $128,239 (Grade E/571)
Systems Engineering Level 2- Manager II: $96,277 - $136,290 (Grade D/611)
Systems Engineering Level 3- Senior Manager: $103,721 - $146,827 (Grade C/702)
Systems Engineering Level 4- Director: $122,958 - $174,060 (Grade A/924)
Systems Engineering Level 5- Senior Director: $137,914 - $189,130 (Exec/1096)
Responsibilities
As the engineering lead within the Bus Technology Group project team, the Systems Engineering Manager leads MTA DOB's technical efforts in developing and deploying world class information technology for the transit industry using modem technology management processes. Aids in the transition of these projects from development to maintenance. Develops a technology strategy which ensures that the MTA controls its own technical and financial destiny in the deployment of various technology initiatives while trading off between schedule, scope, and cost according to the strategic directives of senior management. The candidate leads a small but skilled team responsible for the technical quality of modular, open, and standards-based technologies to DOB staff and the MTA's fleet of almost 6,000 buses serving over 2.8 million daily riders. The technologies include Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL), Bus Trek, MTA Bus Time, Automated Bus Lane Enforcement, on-Board Audio-Visual Announcements, Automated Passenger Counters, Traffic Signal Priority etc. Functional Areas include Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V-to-I) communication, Renewable energy integration, Sustainable urban mobility solutions.
Education and Experience
Systems Engineering Level 1- Manager I
1. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Engineering or in a related field and four (4) years of full-time related experience, at least one (1) year of which must have been in a managerial/supervisory capacity; or
2. A satisfactory equivalent of the combined education and experience requirements.
Systems Engineering Level 2- Manager II
1. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Engineering or in a related field and six (6) years of full-time related experience, at least two (2) years of which must have been in a managerial/supervisory capacity; or
2. A satisfactory equivalent of the combined education and experience requirements.
Systems Engineering Level 3- Senior Manager
1. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Engineering or in a related field and eight (8) years of full-time related experience, at least three (3) years of which must have been in a managerial/supervisory capacity; or
2. A satisfactory equivalent of the combined education and experience requirements.
Systems Engineering Level 4 - Director
1. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Engineering or in a related field and ten (10) years of full-time related experience, at least four (4) years of which must have been in a managerial/supervisory capacity; or
2. A satisfactory equivalent of the combined education and experience requirements.
Systems Engineering Level 5 – Senior Director
1. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Engineering or in a related field and twelve (12) years of full-time related experience, at least five (5) years of which must have been in a managerial/supervisory capacity; or
2. A satisfactory equivalent of the combined education and experience requirements
Desired Skills
+ Master Degree preferred
