    Description

    To direct the US Legal Department's program for electronic discovery, including issues related to information preservation, retrieval, analysis and production. The incumbent is responsible for developing both proactive and reactive (matter specific) electronic discovery strategies that ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements and minimize business disruption. The incumbent will also provide proactive and prospective advice to Information Systems and the business units on potential eDiscovery issues arising out of current or planned technologies.

    This position offers a base salary typically between $200,000 and $316,000. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus, relocation and or other compensation elements.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    + Develops strategies customized to individual cases and investigations for the preservation, retrieval, analysis and production of electronic information as part of ongoing legal matters. Also develops proactive strategies meant to improve future electronic discovery capabilities, use resources more wisely and reduce the impact on the business

    + Program Management: Plans, organizes and oversees resources to achieve the goals and objectives of electronic discovery projects, whether specific to individual cases or more generally addressing the electronic discovery program.

    + Directs a cross-functional team of professionals implementing electronic discovery strategies; indirectly manages on a project basis professionals from other departments including IT to achieve electronic discovery goals.

    + Provides expert advice on state and federal legal electronic discovery requirements and ensures the program grows to meet evolving technology, business operations and standards.

    + Develops matter-specific plans for preservation, collection, review and production of ESI for multinational ediscovery projects emanating from the US along with international team

    Requirements

    + Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited institution is required

    + Ten plus (10+) years of Electronic Discovery experience either at a law firm or corporation (within the pharmaceutical industry is preferred but not required).

    + Experience with managing cross-border eDiscovery projects and deep knowledge of international data privacy requirements.

    + Expert on state and federal legal electronic discovery requirements.

    + Advanced business process knowledge, and a demonstrated capability to apply technology solutions in addressing business issues.

    + Previous experience managing business priorities and projects across multiple business areas.

    + Demonstrated project management capability based on the successful completion of multiple projects.

    + Strong communication skills, and advanced relationship development and management capabilities.

    + Advanced foundation in and understanding of:

    + Methodologies for system design, development, and implementation

    + All phases of the Project Implementation life cycle

    + Validation and regulatory requirements.

    + Provides expert advice on state and federal legal electronic discovery requirements and ensures BI’s discovery-related protocols and processes are current, efficient, defensible and being executed across all matters.

    Eligibility Requirements

    Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

     

    Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).

     

    Must be 18 years of age or older.
