    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    A high school diploma or its equivalent.

    This position is subject to the following conditions:

    + Frequent transfers throughout the state with minimal notice

    + Shift work and required overtime during peak periods, many times requiring employees to work 7 days a week.

    + Work is seasonal depending on harvest periods.

    + Irregular work shifts

    + Must obtain Federal Inspection License (FV-200 and/or FV-201) within one year of appointment.

     

    Requires possession of a valid Class E driver license.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    This position has regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of s. 112.313, F.S., and Section 60L-36.003, Florida Career Service Rules and Regulations.

     

    Requires a federal license (FV-200 and/or FV-201) as an inspector in accordance with 7 C.F.R. Part 51 within one year of appointment.

     

    Occasional travel required.

    JOB DUTIES:

    Selects representative samples of fruit, vegetables and nuts in accordance with prescribed sampling procedures and plans. Inspects the products to determine quality, condition, and/or compliance with United States Department of Agriculture standards, committees, laws of the state of Florida and/or marketing orders. Prepares inspection reports based on results of examination of product.

     

    Travels to various packing houses and/or canneries during days and/or nights. Prepares and maintains a daily and weekly report monthly expense voucher and other reports as needed. Receives instruction through training classes and field supervision.

     

    Performs other related work as required.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    + Ability to lift, maneuver and carry up to 50 pounds, when needed, as part of the duties of this position.
