    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Electric Power Specialist is a technical and customer-facing expert responsible for supporting electric power generation systems, including diesel and gas generators, switchgear, UPS systems, and microgrid solutions. This role bridges the gap between engineering, service, and sales, ensuring seamless execution of power projects and ongoing support.

    COMPETENCIES:

    + Provide advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and commissioning support for electric power systems.

    + Stay current with evolving technologies including hybrid systems, battery storage, and renewable integration.

    + Serve as a technical advisor to customers during pre-sale, installation, and post-sale phases.

    + Conduct site assessments and recommend tailored solutions based on load profiles and operational needs.

    + Collaborate with sales, engineering, and service teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of power solutions.

    + Support project documentation, compliance, and testing protocols.

    + Mentor technicians and internal teams on electric power systems and best practices.

    + Assist in developing training materials and technical resources.

    + Possess analytical decision-making skills and capable of working with minimal supervision.

    + Ability to prioritize work based on customer requirements, while obtaining service goals and objectives.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Strong background in electrical engineering or equivalent technical experience.

    + Familiarity with electric power paralleling applications.

    + Experience with usage of diagnostic tools specific to the electric power generation industry, to include Power Quality Analyzer, Megger, Ductor, and hi-pot testers to test alternators, transformers, and breakers.

    + Diagnose PLC problems and troubleshoot controllers.

    + Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

    + Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.

    + Bachelor’s Degree from a fully accredited college in a closely related field.

    + A minimum of seven years of directly related experience and/or training in the power generation industry with Caterpillar experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + Extensive and frequent travel across the entire territory will be expected.

    + Participation in an IRS-compliant vehicle expense reimbursement program is required.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee will have a combination of tasks assigned in the office, Service shop, training room, and in the field (outside and within customer locations). The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible. Employees may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
