    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    A high school diploma or its equivalent and one (1) year of experience in forestry or a related field;or

    A one (1) year certificate in Forestry with coursework in both Dendrology and Natural Resource Sampling;or

     

    An associate’s degree in Forestry or related field with coursework in both Dendrology and Natural Resource Sampling.

     

    Requires a valid driver license.

    JOB DUTIES:

    This is a full-time OPS Park Services Specialist position on the Twin Rivers State Forest in Big Shoals State Forest in Live Oak, FL.

     

    Responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of one or more recreation areas. Responsibilities include mowing recreation sites, garbage pickup, making repairs to signs and fences, repairing vandalism, policing for litter, tree maintenance, etc.

     

    Responsible for one or more recreation areas fixed facilities such as pavilions, campsites, boat ramps, etc. Duties include overseeing the persons who use the area, providing the public with information, enforcing recreation area rules and regulations, and providing for the general safety of all individuals using the area.

     

    Responsible for assisting with the operations of Big Shoals and Twin Rivers State Forest.

     

    Performs operator maintenance on all equipment used in recreation areas such as mowers, tractors, vehicles, chainsaws, trimmers, etc.

     

    Examples of Work Performed

     

    Mowing campsites and parking areas.

     

    Cleaning and maintaining campsites and recreation areas.

     

    Maintaining and restocking brochures in all state forest kiosks.

     

    Inventories State Forest signage infrastructure (tables, fire pits, trash bins, etc.,)

     

    Checks road conditions and informs supervisor of hazards.

     

    Assists in prescribed fire on State Forest lands as needed.

     

    Assists supervisor and forester with other forest management activities.

     

    Assists Agricultural Technician II with invasive species management activities.

     

    Performs other related work as required.
