About the Opportunity
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.
The reporting location can be any of the following FE facilities, Akron, OH; Greensburg, PA; Reading, PA; Fairmont, WV; or Holland, OH.
The Asset Management Support team provides support to the Asset and Records Control and Power Delivery departments. It is responsible for Transmission Reliability data, metrics and reporting, initiative planning and budget tracking. The team identifies current and future challenges to transmission system reliability as well as coordinating and championing activities to continuously improve reliability. Report transmission performance data to North American Electric Regulatory Corporation (NERC) and North American Transmission Forum (NATF).
This position is responsible for analyzing transmission system reliability performance data and determining root causes of transmission system reliability issues. This position is also accountable for determining solutions to resolve transmission system reliability issues, and coordinating / championing those solutions through to implementation.
Responsibilities include:
+ Initiating actions to collect data and information required for transmission system reliability analysis
+ Organizing transmission reliability data to facilitate analysis of transmission system reliability
+ Performing formal and rigorous analysis to determine the cause(s) of transmission system events
+ Performing statistical analyses of transmission reliability data to identify the primary drivers adversely impacting transmission system reliability
+ Developing and maintaining metrics demonstrating how FE transmission system reliability compares to applicable industry standards
+ Recommending to management, target levels of FE transmission system reliability performance relative to industry norms
+ Working with Planning & Protection, Engineering and others to identify options with recommendations for projects and initiatives to improve FE transmission system reliability
+ Coordinating and championing transmission system reliability improvement projects through to inclusion in transmission portfolio
+ Developing and making presentations to leadership on status updates and/or project justifications
Qualifications include:
+ Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is required. In lieu of a degree, Acceptable alternatives are: (1) a Professional Engineer’s (PE) License (2) a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical field of study (non-ABET) plus an advanced degree in Engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor’s program.
+ A Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Certificate is preferred.
+ Minimum of 2 (two) years of Engineering experience is required.
+ A working knowledge of electrical engineering, transmission substation equipment, transmission system protection and transmission system operations are desired
+ Prior experience with root cause analysis, Six Sigma and / or statistical analysis is desired
+ Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Must possess the ability to continue to learn and grow, work across FirstEnergy, and deliver results
