The Time-Resolved Research Group in the X-ray Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory invites applications for a Postdoctoral Appointee. The role focuses on developing ultrafast pump–probe total X-ray scattering (TXS) and pair distribution function (PDF) analysis capabilities and methodology to study laser-driven structural dynamics in functional materials. This position is part of a collaborative effort across XSD, the Materials Science Division (MSD), and the Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division (CSE).

    Key Responsibilities:

+ Develop and enhance pump–probe sub-nanosecond TXS method.

+ Design, implement, and validate experimental setups; conduct synchrotron-based measurements on quantum and energy materials.

+ Build robust data reduction and PDF analysis workflows; document best practices.

+ Collaborate across divisions and interdisciplinary teams; ensure safe operations.

+ Analyze results, publish peer-reviewed papers, and present at scientific meetings.

    Appointment Details:

+ Postdoctoral appointment; initial term up to two years with potential extension based on performance and funding.

+ On-site position at Argonne; work primarily conducted at the Advanced Photon Source.
