    Job Summary

    The College of Agriculture’s School of Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Aquatic Science is looking for aTES Communications & Marketing Specialist to create and manage communication, marketing and promotional materials for the School.

    Essential Functions

    • Develops marketing and communications content to promote the vision, mission, goals and achievements ofSFAAS .

    • Collaborates with the Director ofSFAAS and the School Information Technology Lead to develop and post content to the School’s new Blog “Southern Waters”

    • Researches, designs and composes content for dissemination through a variety of mediums, such as internal or external publications, brochures, posters, websites, presentations, development/fundraising materials, press packages, or broadcast media.

    • Help produce the School’s quarterly newsletter and migrate it to a new format.

    • Manages and posts content to social media channels.

    • Submits material to journals, associations or other external media, either proactively or in response to requests.

    • Evaluates effectiveness of communications, public relations, and/or marketing programs.

    • Prepares press releases and participates in public relations activities, in conjunction with University staff.

    • Acts as a liaison with the College of Agriculture communications team.

    • Plans and organizes special events and meetings, as well as participation at conferences or trade shows.

    • May maintain files, databases and electronic records of materials.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Business, Fisheries, Natural Resources, Public Relations or related field.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Excellent writing skills for web content

    • Knowledge and skill creating and editing content in WordPress, Substack, and other web design applications

    • Knowledge and skills in social media strategy and management.

    • Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite of software

    • Interest in science communication, fish, environmental, and agricultural topics
