Mid-Level Distribution Designer
POWER Engineers, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Mid-Level Distribution Designer to join the Distribution Department in our Columbus, Ohio office.
Roles and Responsibilities
The qualified candidate should have previous exposure to utility standards, the ability to use typical industry design software packages as well as general construction knowledge and aptitude. The candidate will be responsible for performing designs on both overhead and underground distribution systems (4 kV to 35 kV), performing calculations, interpreting codes and standards, creating construction packages and performing quality control reviews. The candidate must be capable of working both independently and within a team framework and will be expected to deal directly with clients and therefore must have a strong command of the English language and possess good written and oral communications skills. Some travel should be expected.
Required Education/Experience
+ Five (5) + years of distribution design experience and/or distribution line construction (4 kV to 35 kV)
+ Familiarity with distribution design software, the National Electric Safety Code, and utility best practices
+ Experience preparing/supporting permit applications, forestry requests, right-of-way documents, and construction estimates
+ Self-motivated and willing to work in design teams to accomplish a common goal
+ Strong command of the English language and possess good written and oral communications skills
+ Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process
+ Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Desired Education/Experience
+ A two-year technical certificate or degree
+ Ten (10) + years of distribution design experience in overhead and underground (4 kV to 35 kV)
+ Ability to lead and direct a team of engineers, designers, and drafters to successfully execute project work
+ Experience with AutoCAD, DDS, MicroStation, PLS-CADD, SPIDAcalc, and STORMS
